Greenpeace continue down the warpath with new ad

Not content with doom and gloom messages aboutpossible penis shrinkage, Greenpeace thought it would be a fine time to issue a new PSA about the toxicity of game consoles. At least they didn’t go the route of the trying to reach usthrough our favorite characters in gamesthis time, instead opting for a hip soundtrack and quick edits to try to reach their demographic.I’m the first to admit that I’m not really the type to study which harmful chemicals are in my gaming equipment, but despite my first reaction to these ads, I think some part of me is starting to feel the need for more clarification of what my console can or cannot do to me....

Here are some completely fake images of a new Zelda

Zelda Informer was sent these screens which are purportedly from an upcomingZeldatitlemaking its way to the Wii. They’re totally fake, as evidenced by the creator later popping up in the Zelda Universe forums andclaiming creditfor them. Even without that, I had a hard time believing that these photos, unsourced and so forth, had any validity whatsoever. Still, the prospect of the Roc’s cape (which I contend looks more an alligator clip on a set of jumper cables than clothing in these screenshots — now there’s a useful tool) in a 3D Zelda could be pretty interesting....

Here is your World of Goo/Braid for 2009: Night Games

Nintendo made a lot of noise yesterday about upcoming releases, so some stuff probably got lost in the shuffle. Admittedly, some of it probably should have… ButNight Games, a WiiWare exclusive title developed byCave Storydeveloper Nicalis, should not. The title is a nominee for a 2009 Independent Games Festival Seumas McNally Award (say that five times fast), so you know what that means — it’s nothing like, say,Killzone 2. What it does look like is a gorgeous and atmospheric experience that has a similar look and feel to Nicalis’ other titles....

Here’s what Speilberg’s LMNO might have looked like

A collaboration between Electronic Arts and director Steven Speilberg, known as “LMNO,” will never see the light of day. But thisvisual target video acquired by 1UPshows us what could have been, and it’s heart breaking, because it certainly looks impressive. The title was originally announced in 2005, and after EA went quiet on the project, it’s reported to be quietly canceled only a few years later. “LMNO” was said to mix first-person parkour-style movement with an action game, sprinkled with some role-playing game elements....

Image importing coming to LBP this Christmas

In an appearance at GameCity in Nottingham, Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans revealed that image importation would be coming toLittleBigPlanetby Christmas. Evans (also the guy who manned Sackboy during theE3 presentation) did not elaborate but he did say that the reason it wasn’t included in the initial release was due to time constraints. This is obviously a very welcome addition to the game, where user-created images are the only real limitation....

Image on Rockstar Social Club could be a hint at unexpected GTA IV DLC

An image that has appeared on theRockstar Social Club Web siteis hinting at some curious events that may take place in Liberty City. The image shows a quarantine sign — presumably on the fence surrounding the in-game Eugenics, Inc. compound inGrand Theft Auto IV’s Liberty City — warning of the outbreak of a contagious disease. This particular location (sans sign) can be found in the game world, yet it doesn’t play any role in the game....

Is Sony’s customer service being affected by phasing out the 60GB PS3?

It’s not clear at the moment if this is one of those isolated cases of a momentary lapse of stock on Sony’s part, or if this is the beginnings of a greater pattern to come, but at least one person — a European NeoGAF poster — is claiming to becaught in console limbowhile he waits for Sony to replace his failed 60GB PS3 which was sent in for repairs. The story has it that after a month of hearing nothing from Sony regarding the repairs, he became concerned and contacted them for an update....

Kamikaze attacks: Battlestations: Pacific will have them

Finally, a developer gets me. I spend a good portion of my time as a WWII pilot in various videogames dive-bombing precious targets with reckless abandon. Unfortunately, most games don’t reward me for my individual (and explosive) heroics. But it appears as thoughBattlestations: Pacificwill. Today, Eidos and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released a new trailer for the game. And it features the dreaded Kamikaze pilot. Apparently there’s an entire mode dedicated to Kamikaze....
