Rumor started to sprout up yesterdaythat Q-Games would be showing off a brand new PixelJunk title at this year’s GDC, but thanks toDylan Cuthbert’s Twitter feed, the rumor was quickly dispelled. However, Cuthbert did mention thatPixelJunk Eden Encorewill be shown off, and he was more than happy to tease about the next entry in the PixelJunk series. In an interview withiHobo, Cuthbert says: It’s still secret but it will be something that invokes old memories yet has something completely new and unused before in it too....

I have no idea what we (as in, the case of Podtoid™, Destructoid.com’s official news and commentary podcast) will be talking about.No damned idea. Maybe we’ll discussBorderlands. Maybe we’ll talk about DLC, or something. Maybe we’ll finally record our running commentary for theResident Evilmovie. The only thing I do know for sure is this: we need listener questions, and we might need them pretty badly. I’m going to let the above picture speak for itself. BoingBoing Gadgets— who also happen to be utterly in love withPortal— unearthed this thing and while it was sort of an inevitability, it’s heartwarming to see that nothing ever changes around these parts. As much asslash fictionhas a long, storied history of being gross in the extreme, the idea of copulating with the Weighted Companion Cube is just bizarre enough to get me a lil’ hot....

WhilePortal 2continues toamaze and/or infuriate gamers, the firstPortalhas been able to boast a significant achievement. The original comedy-puzzler has sold nearly four million copies since it released in 2007, and that’snot includingSteam sales. For a game that was an underdog onThe Orange Box, the success ofPortalhas been terrific to see. Not only is it a genuinely interesting concept, it’s also one of the best written games ever. To see it become a success — one that hopefully carries over toPortal 2— makes me think that there’s hope yet for originality and talent in the game industry....

A few days ago, I posted a prettyscummy-looking trailerof the upcomingPrince of Persia: The Sands of Timefilm. By scummy-looking I mean the quality of the video, not the quality of the film. Of course, not everyone agreed — some of you guys immediately said it looked like a generic action film, and have written it off as Hollywood bastardizing a game you’ve come to love. I understand being hesitant, and to an extent, I see where you’re coming from with this....

We’ve pointed it out before, but all you need to sell your console in Japan is a Japanese game about Japanese things by a Japanese studio made for Japanese people. For some reason, the Japanese love that kind of stuff! The PlayStation 3 hasput this winning formula to use, with PS3 exclusiveYakuza 3driving sales and giving Sony’s black box o’ Blu-ray a leading position. PS3 sales jumped 20,000 units in the week ending March 1, selling 36,513 units from the previous 16,149....

There’s something about racing games with RC toy cars that is beyond appealing to me. Maybe it’s the tracks — they are often huge in proportion to the adorable little cars and tend to involve all sorts of ridiculous ramps, loops, and obstacles. Perfect material for a racing game, wouldn’t you say? Whatever the case may be, these racers have the potential to be pretty fun, and the PlayStation Network is even getting one next Thursday calledSmash Cars....

Despite the mixed opinions surroundingAliens vs. Predator, Rebellion is rather pleased with itself. The gamedebuted at number onein the United Kingdom, and the team is already in talks to develop a sequel. As far as the critical performance goes, studio head Jason Kingsley has swept the bad reviews under the carpet, claiming that the bad ones were “totally sh*t.” “We wantedAliens vs. Predatorto be a critical success as well as a commercial success,” beams Kingsley, “which we think we have achieved....

While we still have a while to wait untilResident Evil 5will occupy our every waking moment, some may turn to the CG filmResident Evil: Degenerationto sate their thirst for all things RE. We knewthe Blu-Ray release would be packed with cool features, but not when it was coming. Now, it’s for sure that you’re able to enjoy it before the new year. The film will be released December 30th and will retail for $39....

With this year’s E3 being just a couple of weeks away, the rumor mill has kicked into overdrive once again — and guess which beloved IP is mentioned? None other than the Master Chief variety. Don’t expect the man in green to make an appearance this time, though, as he’s still resting up from nearly biting the dust in his last gig inHalo 3. Details are less than scarce at this point, and Microsoft is following its usual song and dance of “no comment” regarding the game’ssupposeddevelopment....

TheTales of Monkey Islandseries is rushing to a close December 8 with the release of “Rise of the Pirate God,” the fifth and final installment. No doubt some MI fans are experiencing confused feelings about this — a newMIgame should be celebrated, yet this soon-to-be-released downloadable signals the end of freshMIcontent. Regardless, new images have been released. Developer Telltale Games sent out the first three images of the fifth chapter and we couldn’t refuse sharing them with you....

Duringour previewofSniper: Ghost Warriorit became pretty obvious that one thing was certain: location matters. So developer City Interactive is doing the right thing in showing off its game maps in these new screens. The game has a variety of levels for you to shoot people in the head in including temples, oil rigs and rainy construction sites. A bit cliche, but still fun. What I really like from these shots is that all the places don’t seem like they were set up for sniping....
