But now this newly released list of exhibitors for the 2008 Penny Arcade Expo really shows that they’re not f*cking around. The August 29th-31st event will include Nintendo, Sony Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Activision. Hell, that’s better than E3! “We nearly doubled our exhibition hall and added another 80,000 square feet of content overall, so the show is going to be pretty amazing this year,” says Penny Arcade’s Robert Khoo....
It’s no secret that people didn’t buy EA Visceral’sDead Space: Extraction, a hip on-rails shooter exclusive to the Wii and its hardware. Massively multiplayer online games can’t soul suck me like PopCap’sPeggle. Don’t worry about walking into your local Best Buy this fall and not being able to figure out how to use the PlayStation Move game kiosk — Sony is hiring and training representatives for a nationwide in-store retail campaign. Sources that wish to remain anonymous have passed along details of employment opportunities for representatives to assist in what is referred to as “the second largest product launch in PlayStations’ history.” The demo program will have trainees working kiosks in retailers like Best Buy and Walmart, assisting potential customers with the usage of Move, showing off features, and answering questions about the product which ships on September 19....

The latest group not able to keep a secret are Taiwan-based component makers. They claim that production of Sony’s next game console will begin later this year. Earlier today,we brought wordthat Anonymous was declaring war on Sony in retaliation for its ongoing “PS3 hacker” suits against George “Geohot” Hotz and Graf_Chokolo. The opening shots have allegedly been fired, it would seem, as the PlayStation Network suffers connection issues and Sony sites die across the ‘net. Sony has acknowledged the PSN outages, blaming them on “sporadic maintenance,” but it is yet to address the issue of PlayStation.com and other Sony-related sites being down for the majority of the day....
