Activision announces Wee 1ST brand to focus on Wii titles

I’ll never forget my reaction when I first heard that Nintendo had chosen to go with the name Wii rather than Revolution. Not surprisingly, my mind flashed the word spelled “Wee” as it is above. Luckily, the console is such a success that most people have forgotten about the days of Photoshopping urine all over early pictures of the little white box, and Nintendo has pretty much shown that they can name a console Kox or Dix or whatever they damn well please and still come out filthy stinking rich....

Ape Escape 4 is coming to Europe

This is almost a Captain Obvious post, but hey, I’ll take any excuse to talk aboutApe Escape 4that I can get. Not seeing the game at E3 10 was easily one of my biggest disappointments of the show. Sony still seems resistant to doing anything with their PS1-era franchises, probably out of a desire to keep up their self-perceived “cutting edge” image. You’d think they look at all the money Nintendo’s making off their +10-year-old franchises and get the hint; nostalgia sells....

Atlus launches Trauma Team website, now with less nicotine

I’ll admit right off the bat that I’m a huge fan of theTrauma Centergames, so the newwebsiteAtlus has just launched gets me all the more excited for its upcoming Wii title,Trauma Team. Among other things, this will feature profiles for the game’s six characters, along with a look at each one’s unique field of study. Being unveiled one at a time, the only doctor available at the moment is Gabriel Cunningham, who you may remember seeing with a cigarette in his mouth when Colette first brought us news of the game’sannouncement....

Avatars ‘may’ bring charges for accessories: Actual money hat confirmed?

Captain Obvious comes to visit, asMicrosoft has touched uponthe extra charges that its innovative new Mii systemmaybring. Although Microsoft has not claimed that this is a definite plan, I hardly expect the company that charges Microsoft Points for tiny square JPEGs tonotintroduce microtransactions in exchange for innovative Mii clothing and accessories. “That may be in the future,” stated Xbox Live boss John Schappert when asked about Avatar microtransactions. “That may be in the future....

Ayane & Kasumi’s new costumes in Dead or Alive Dimensions

Looks like the combatants in 3DS fighterDead or Alive Dimensionswill be getting a makeover, with new costumes revealed for veteran fighers Ayane and Kasumi. If your idea of a good time is fourteen-year-old girls in hotpants, then these renders are for you! These new threads are already upsetting fans, with Ayane’s costume in particular causing distress among her creepy admirers. Considering most of these characters have always looked at least faintly ridiculous, I don’t see what the big problem is, but maybe some of you long-term fans can illuminate me....

Bargain Bin Laden #15: Crimson Skies

Today we reach back to hallowed antiquity in a loosely related sort of way. Back inThe DayI covered an oft-overlooked title for BBL calledSky Odyssey, and it’s difficult to write up this week’s feature,Crimson Skies: High Road to Revengewithout feeling a few pangs of memory for that long-ago flight “sim”. They’re about as apples and oranges as you can get in most respects, save one: completely unrealistic flying. Stalling? The hell isthat?...

BioShock wallpaper: sweeter than Art Deco?

Well, maybe not, but Dan over atTheBBPSalready used the sweetest title I can think of. Nevertheless, this amazing BioShockwallpapermakes me a happy little gene-splicer indeed. If I were a baser man, I would’ve said something along the lines of “Oh my God, this is so pimptight amazing sweet awesomesauce!” However, I am quite above such trivialities. Actually, no I’m not. Thatiswhat I said. The thing about this wallpaper that makes it so delicious is that it’s nefariouslydeceptive....

Bleszinski isn’t exactly the biggest fan of the PlayStation controller

In a recent engagement in London, Cliff Bleszinski candidly revealed that he wasn’t the biggest fan of the PlayStation 3 controller. In fact, one can even use the word “hate” and not be taking his comment out of context. He toldVG247, “I hate the f***ing controller. I’m sorry, I can’t stand the PS3 controller. I love the Blu-ray player. “ Forget licensing — perhaps this is whyGears of Warnever saw this side of Sony’s console....
