On May 3, the “Escalation” map pack forCall of Duty: Black Opsmultiplayer hits Xbox Live. You’re looking at four new maps — “Hotel,” “Convoy,” “Zoo,” and “Stockpile” — along with one new map, “Call of the Dead,” for the game’s zombie mode. First to Xbox Live, of course. Everyone else will have to hold your horses until June 3. Activision and Treyarch released a video preview of the maps today, and they’re looking pretty sharp....

Everything about this segment onThe People’s Court— a daytime small claims court reality show in the United States, for those who don’t know — is hilarious. A man gives his Wii to his neighbor to modify so that he can, instead of spending $50 on games, spend $3 on them. He tells this to the judge. She’s confused, and just nods. This goes on for about 13 hilarious minutes. No one mentions the word “piracy,” and the arguments are heard....
What a team? Media Vision made Wild Arms. Square Enix made every other RPG. Why not team up and make a huge console game. Nah, they’re doing an iPhone one instead. Media Vision’s websiteis asking for help on this new collaboration. All we know is that it is coming in 2010 for the iPhone, and it features a dude that’s way too happy about his white hair. Of course, this is a Japan-only game so far....

Here’s the thing about Battleship: You can cheat. I can’t say that I never did it — cheat, I mean. Look, with some quick movements and a carefully placed diversion, you could even move a ship. Did you always find yourself losing at Battleship? If so, you didn’t cheat enough. Making it a videogame fixes that. Kind of. Battleship and other Hasbro games are the Deal of the Week on Xbox Live Arcade....
The next addition to theLegend of Zeldaseries is delving deeper into RPG territory with word that it will feature a full-on upgrade system for items and weapons. Until now, Link would just get more and more cool gadgets with occasional enhancements, but now he’ll be able to strengthen his whole arsenal with resources found in the game. “What we’ve done with the game this time that I think is a little different is we’ve built an entire upgrade system into the game,” said Nintendo’s Bill Trinen....
According to aSan Jose Mecury Newswriter, Microsoft, Intel, Nvidia, AMD and others will be making an announcement at GDC next week that they will all be forming a “PC Gaming Alliance”. The goal here is to revive the PC gaming industry and make it more competitive against the console industry, which in turn would hopefully get more developers to bringgames onto the PC. This along with the recentAgeia take over by Nvidiareally shows that these companies mean serious business....
