There is nothing more exciting than buying a new PlayStation 3 title, unwrapping the plastic, and watching a mandatory download screen. The surprising sort-of-non-announcement came from Sega of America’s president, Simon Jeffrey, who let the idea slip while talking about Nintendo’s current focus and its attitude toward the “core” demographic. “The Wii’s selling incredible amounts of hardware, but Nintendo knows it needs to expand the demographic. Got Game Entertainment has announced that it will be publishing the first-person, point-and-click horror adventure game,Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches, in North America for the PC. The game’s story is focused around a haunted Welsh farmstead, which you begin exploring after the new owners’ fifteen-year-old daughter, Rhiannon Sullivan, starts experiencing some spooky sights and sounds. The whole thing is apparently based off a series of Welsh legends that I’ve never heard of called the “Four Branches....

When the Wii debuted a year ago, Nintendo put an entirely new demographic of gamers’ undergarments in a twist over the simple yet extremely customizable Miis. The Miis were revolutionary to this extent, providing a basic and easy to use interface to creatively explore limitless avatar construction. What followed of course was an onslaught of personalized Miis made to mirror everyone from the entire cast ofThe Big Lebowskito your mom. Machinima was made, celebrities were caricatured, and your mom wept in utter confusion given the misplaced nature of her Nintendo identity....

As if I don’t already have enough crap hanging off my keychain, it looks like GameStop is offering a LEGO-rocker keychain up for pre-orders ofLEGO Rock Band. I noticed the display while shopping my local GameStop to buy (of all things) MS Points to buy moreRock Bandsongs. Orange Lounge Radio has dug up some info on an alleged new entry into theKatamariuniverse. EntitledBeautifulKatamari,OLRclaims that the game will be making its way to theXbox360 and the PS3, with appropriateSIXAXISsupport, this October. A Wii version is to follow shortly thereafter, sometime in November. While this hasn’t been confirmed byNamco,OLRbacks up ther claimwith a recentBeautifulKatamaritrademark as well as video game distributor sources of their own. Still, until an official announcement, take this rumor with a grain of salt....

Cubed3has a supposed leaked retailer’s list of Q4 2008 to Q1 2009 European Capcom releases for Nintendo consoles. We don’t know if this list is legit yet, but there are definitely some interesting entries within: Zack & Wiki 2? Yay!We like that game. What’s with the late 2008/early 2009 timetable onWe Love Golf? Finally, while “Horror Adventure” is probably some kind of placeholder name for a new game from one of Capcom’s established franchises, I’d absolutely love if they released a game with that name....
