Sometimes, I think people who weren’t around during the peak of the Nintendo craze don’t know what they missed out on. Back before Nintendo realized the real, long-term value of franchises likeMarioandZelda, it seemed like they were up for damn near anything when it came to licensing their products. Case in point: The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. It’s one of the stranger (if possible) game-centric Saturday morning series. Shows were a combination of cartoons cut with live-action sequences starring recently-deceased wrestling legend Captain Lou Albano in the role of everyone’s favorite plumber....

We’re only one restless, time-shifted night of sleep away from the big event. The journey was hellacious, the traffic was terrible, the airline food was gross, and we ache from sleeplessness, but it looks like we’re not the only ones suffering from jetlag. We’ve run into many a game journalist and game industry celeb this evening, but the first we encountered was none other than the normally gorgeous (though understandably travel-worn) Jade Raymond, the producer of Ubisoft’sAssassin’s Creed....
I’m pretty excited to see that the nextYakuzagame was going to be about the zombie apocalypse. Underneath their gangster-coated surface, theYakuzasurface are about teasing out who your real friends are; seeing which of your relationships really matter. They are also about ruthlessly manhandling out of anything that stands between you and your goal. At their best, zombies games are about those same two things. That’s just part of why I thinkzombies and street fightersare a match made in schlock Heaven....

Shoko Nakagawa, for those of you who don’t know, is that really famous Japanese lady that likes stuffing cats down her mouth. She also ends up looking like a goldfish every time she does it.
