After the long delay, next week we’ll finally be seeing the release of Rush’s classic albumMoving Pictureson the Rock Band music store. The entire album will cost $10.99 (880 Microsoft Points), and individual tracks can be snagged for $1.99 (160 MS Points). More info on the album can be found inour original announcement post, which went up eight years ago, before Harmonix and MTV Games delayed the release and made gamers cry....

The first game was a big hit with PC gamers although I always got the feeling it picked up slowly as people discovered how amazing it was. High Frequency Bandwidth, the guys who created the critically acclaimed soundtrack toPixelJunk Shooter, have announced that there will not be an official soundtrack release. Sucks, right? Not quite. Turns out that all of the tracks used forPixelJunk Shooterwill be released as part of the groups first full album, “Hell Fire and Brimstone.” They’ll make up six of the seventeen tracks on the release, which is currently scheduled for release in early July....

If you’re going to buy one game for your shiny, expensive PSPgo system today, then heavily considerThexder Neo, Square Enix’s downloadable remake of the 1985 sidescrolling classic. It features a jet that transforms into a robot, and that’s just wonderful. Judging by the trailer,Thexder Neowill provide some simple, classic, old school shooting, but with a fresh coat of paint. We need more of that on the PSP, please! I think this may very well deserve a day one purchase from me....

Volition unleashed a lengthy developer walkthrough ofSaints Row: The Third‘s gameplay, and it’s simply ridiculous. It shows that Volition knows what makes an open world game actuallyfunto play, and that they are seemingly putting everything we’ve ever wanted in an open world game into the newSaints Row. Ridiculous melee combat with wrestling moves, crotch punching, and dildo bats? Yes please! The game industry has today been highlighted by the British Government as a possible beneficiary offilm-style tax credits. As part of its “Creative Britain” initiative, Labour is looking into the benefits of encouraging creative industries and raising awareness of the R&D tax credit scheme already in place for game developers. Today, Valve has announced the acquisition of Turtle Rock Studios, the Orange County-based development house behind the upcoming zombie-slaughtering cooperative first-person shooter,Left 4 Dead. The formerly independent studio has had a long relationship with Valve, having developed the Xbox port ofCounter-Strike, as well as a number maps forCounter-Strike: Source. Turtle Rock were also responsible for the the AI of the highly-intelligentCounter-Strikebots, experience which will hopefully translate into an army of frighteningly cognizant undead foes and allies....

Valve’s Steam platform is pretty much the biggest player in digital distribution right now. They dominate the market in ways that getRandy Pitchford’s underwear in knots. One of the reasons they stand on top of the pile is that they often sell to PC gamers in ways that makes piracy look like the less favorable option, as opposed to trying weird crackdowns that only inflame our wrath. Another way they do it is by taking advantage of digital distribution’s unique qualities, like with those ridiculous one-weekend Steam sales that offer kickass games for a song....
