Ah, Japanese anime-ish tactical strategy role-playing games. I’m a sucker for them, but lately the releases have been pretty disappointing to this fan. Even the predecessor to this game, last year’s Luminous Arc, didn’t do that much for me. But playing through the review code of it’s sequel,Luminous Arc 2, I can say that they’ve turned things around. This Nintendo DS SRPG game sports some noticeable improvements fromLuminous Arc. You can opt to play the game without ever touching the bottom screen, but if you prefer, it can be used, and it works well....

Ah, Working Designs. You had a way with hardcore gamers. Your midas touch on various Japanese imports had us all lining up for your next release. Whether it be metallic foil highlights on game packing or top-notch game pack-ins, you always excelled at the little details, and we loved you for that. I used to playPooyana lot on my Commodore 64, but I never really saw the arcade unit anywhere. Perhaps too many years had passed between its 1982 release and the time you would find me crawling through smoky rooms, playing games. I wish I had played it on a cabinet just once as a child, though. Then I probably would not have gone through life only experiencing the less-defined graphics and had the knowledge thatPooyanwas a game about pigs and not cats....
If you spent a significant portion of your childhood in the eighties, I don’t think it was possible to miss out onThe Goonies. The bittersweet tale of a group of kids facing their last weekend together in their beloved town coupled with a pirate mystery and a group of ruthless criminals made it a perfect film for families. To my surprise, a recent viewing proved the film to still retain much of its charm....
Within a few seconds of first entering Free Roam mode inRed Dead Redemption, I spotted another player. Thinking, “Hey, I’m going to go see what he’s doing,” I started calmly walking toward the gentlemen. I never made it; he shot my in the face without hesitation. Who could have guessed a wild west setting plus online multiplayer would equal “kill everything that moves … and also the stuff that doesn’t”? Well, that’s pretty much what Free Roam is like, for better or worse....
According to alisting on GameFly, aNinjaBee Critic’s Choice Collectionfor Xbox 360 could be on its way to stores this October. While it’s only speculation on our part, a package featuring NinjaBee’s Xbox LIVE Arcade titles —Outpost Kaloki,Band of Bugs, among others — seems likely. NinjaBee won’t comment on the title, likely caught off guard by GameFly’s listing of the title. Retailers and GameFly have historically outed unannounced titles; the history speaks for itself....
It’s getting to be that time, folks. The time when Nintendo pushes the Wii’s price tag down again. According to a “trusted source” at Engadget, the company is expected to start selling the system at $150 on May 15. Such a move would make sense in terms of declining sales. And — more relevant to us — in terms of games. Notice how there aren’t a whole lot of high-profile releases on the way?...
