Hey guys. Wednesday evening is upon us, and that means it’s time for another episode of the Destructoid show! Let’s waste no time; this gin and McDonald’s Frozen Strawberry Lemonade isn’t going to drink itself. First up on today’s episode, and obviously most important:Duke Nukem Foreverhas officially gone gold. Who could’ve predicted that? Certainly not my 13-year-old self, that’s for damn sure. Also,L.A. Noiremay be seeing a sequel,Modern Warfare 3probably won’t be coming to the Wii, and thePlayStation Storeis still down....

I love theHaloseries. TheHalouniverse has a deep and rich story to it, but you wouldn’t know that as the games do a horrible job at giving players a decent story. You have to read the first five books in the series to really understand why this series is so damn good. SephirothX did a pretty good job at explaining this in hispromoted Monthly Musingfrom last month. One thing that has been a major mystery in theHaloseries is the Forerunners....

The big game of this week is easilyMadden NFL 10.Maddenis always a huge seller, and Samit Sarkar hasn’t been able to shut up about the game. Other than that, the only other worthwhile games areTrials HDon XBLA andMarvel vs. Capcom 2on PSN. What’s looking sw33t to you all this week, Dtoiders? They would have to be, as Sega definitely wouldn’t just stick one of its most beloved characters, Ryo, fromShenmue,in a silly racing game as a bonus character. The newShenmueis located in a…uh, Korea, where…let’s see, oh! — in a fantasy world theme park where transportation is paramount. As series fans my have noticed, Ryo has both his trusty motorcycle and his forklift to get around in. Ryo heard that his father is actually not dead, and recently worked in the theme park as an attendant at a Lucky Hit booth....

Since it was first revealed that there would be some sort of lead-in game for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade prior to the launch ofRed Faction: Armageddon, I always envisioned it as playing like “Red Faction Lite” — y’know, same core experience, but not quite as “finished.” We now know that’s absolutelynot the case.Red Faction: Battlegroundsis its own thing: vehicular combat presented in a top-down view. I’m simultaneously happy it’s something different and sad that I don’t much care for car combat games....

If Wii Fit is not exactly your cup of tea but you are interested in other things that the Wii Balance Board cold be handy for, this may be relevant to your interests. Studio Zan is developing a WiiWare title calledOverturn, in which you play a giant mech and battle other mecha. Not the world’s coolest looking robots, maybe, but apparently you use the balance board to control them. There are no details on whether or not that is the only control option just yet (but I’d assume it isn’t)....

Apparently, EA Sports chief Peter Moore is well suited for his job. According toFIFA 10producer David Rutter (speaking with VideoGamer.com), the guy runs marathons and used to play semi-pro soccer in England. The Liverpool native is also a big fan of his hometown Liverpool F.C. (but does he know all the words to “You Will Never Walk Alone”?), and can hit the crossbar from the center line of a soccer pitch (about 55 yards)....

I visited my friend’s house last week, and he had just purchased all of the PlayStation Network PS Eye software. Granted, most of these “fancy screensavers” can’t really be considered games, but I have found myself drawn to all of them at various gaming events in the past year. Unfortunately, I don’t have a PlayStation Eye just yet. Maybe we’ll see the release of this new PlayStation Eye software bundle package we came across onSiliconera....
