Yeah,Resident Evil-toid is overdue, but I don’t really like springing these movie commentary episodes on you without giving you at least a week’s notice on the podcast itself. We’ll hang out with Milla Jovovich next week. This week, it’s news. I have no idea what that news will be, of course. I do know, however, that we will need listener questions from you lot — just hit the jump and start asking stuff for the chance to win a Dtoid swag bag....

I think I totally jinxed us when I was talking about, y’know,delayswhen soliciting requests for questions this past weekend. Turns out our recording software was listening and said “Hey, I got a crazy idea — let’s make Linde sound like he’s laughingin anticipationof forthcoming jokes, make long awkward pauses longer and more awkward, and poop in his cereal!” So, there’s a slight technical futz in the works this week, but nothing that can’t be fixed with enough gin and positive thinking (but mostly gin)....

Apparently the first season of Sony’s PlayStation Network-only reality show,The Tester, was popular enough to warrant a follow up. Tomorrow, the second season of the show — which has contestants vying for the top prize of being a quality assurance tester for Sony — makes its premiere on PSN.  Sony was nice enough to give me a sneak peek at the upcoming season, but was tricky enough to remove the last few minutes so as I wouldn’t know which two of the 12 contestants get the boot first....

The moment you’ve been waiting for is here: paid downloadable content forThe Sims 3for consoles. Two packs are now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3: the UltraLounge pack and the Hairstyle pack. The former adds a bunch of new, lounge-y home items to your collection, with the other pack bringing you… hairstyles. That’s why it’s called the “Hairstyle” pack, you know? Electronic Arts UK has some images of the new hairstyles and in-game items onits message board, but the press release (which is what appears on the message board) doesn’t mention pricing....

It seems like gamers are favoring Sony’s PlayStation 3 lately, which is nice to hear (for Sony, at least) as that has not been the case for some time. Sony does seem to be turning things around post-E3, and these couple of nuggets of sales news point to better times for the console. PunchJump’sbeady little eyes have spotted a 5,685% sales increase for pre-orders of the new 80GB PlayStation 3 model on Amazon yesterday....

We stumbled across the PS3 Move Champion Pack from Interworks Unlimited onGameStop’s webpage. Interworks Unlimited is no stranger to the console accessory business, but their previous products have mostly been cases, lightguns, and standard controllers. Given the apparent success of all those Wii accessories you thought no one ever bought, it appears they’re branching out into the motion control world. For $29.99 (or $24.99 at Amazon!) you get this bundle that is focused for use with the Sony Sports Champions bundle....

Sony loves Firmware so much that it’s rolling out a brand new update just in time for the launch of the PSPgo. Never mind the fact that v6.00 was released only a couple of weeks ago, here comesv6.10! I think I’ve updated the Firmware more than I’ve actually played videogames on the system, but there you go. In fairness, the new update actuallydoessomething, unlike the last one. In preparation for the PSPgo’s new abilities, Bluetooth tethering will be the centerpiece of this Firmware....

The PSP Minis store has promise as a service that could bring the joy of “Apps” to PlayStation Portable users, but so far the results havenot been brilliant, at least from a consumer perspective. From adeveloperperspective, however, the Minis service is getting some praise. “I think Minis is a brilliant idea and exactly the kind of thing the PSP needs to make it a really appealing platform,”beams Mountain Sheep CEO Kimmo Vihola, comparing development to iPhone Apps....

Just in case the release ofSonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collectionisn’t quite nostalgic enough for you, the publisher has announced that an incredibly limited run of vinyl soundtracks are now available through eBay. Yes, a proper record and everything! The records are limited to a mere 3500, and the very first one is now availablethrough eBay’s Australian wing. All money made on the item will be going to the Cancer Council of Australia....

It’s been, uh … never since I last played a puzzle platformer starring a chicken. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve always wanted to, but the opportunity has never presented itself. Well, until recently. As you can tell by the header,Toki Toriis a game that stars a chicken. It also so happens to be a puzzle platformer. (I can finally scratch this one off the bucket list.) It’s an iPhone game, so it’s a simple title — one that I found myself playing entirely too much....

Do I wantMuramasa: The Demon Blade? Oh yeah, you bet I do. I loved every color-drenched moment ofOdin’s Sphere, and when I heard thatMuramasa(also known by it’s Japanese title,Oboro Muramasa) would feature the same art stylingsandoffer a side-scrolling RPG adventure, well, you can imagine what happened to me (it involved lying on the floor and panting). According to Weekly Famitsu the title has been pushed back to 2009, with no specifics — so we could have to wait a while....

Next week’s XBLA offering is entitledScrewjumper!and as you can tell from the above video, it’s more like “falling” than really jumping. Not sure where that other half of that title works into the whole deal, either, but maybe that’s none of my business. Featuring four singleplayer modes as well as head-to-head multiplayer, there are 20 levels for you to fall through while chaining attacks, blowing stuff up, and doing lots ofred/green/blue/purplethings in general....
