During an investor call yesterday, Activision Blizzard added confirmation to recent rumours thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3will be making an appearance on the Wii this fall. This should be a pleasant surprise for the seven people that bought the previous Wii ports of the various Call of Duty titles on the console. Jokes! No details as of yet on who’s porting the game, though my money’s on Treyarch considering their history with Acti-Blizzard, previously portingBlack Ops,World at WarandModern Warfareto the Wii....

Microsoft sounds like they are going to start taking a page out of Bobby Kotick’s playbook and pursue a more aggressive production schedule for theHalofranchise now that 343 Industries has taken over the reigns from Bungie. In an interview with IGN, Microsoft Game Studios Corporate Vice President Phil Spencer expressed that the wait betweenHalogames will not be as lengthy as it has often been. There’s no explicit strategy that says we’re to ship a Halo game every year....

In a recent interview withThree Speech, Lead Game Designer for Naughty Dog (Uncharted,Jak and Daxter) Richard Lemarchand said that the studio has only utilized “30 or 40 percent” of the PlayStation 3’s power. The comment was made in reference to how Naughty Dog utilizes a set of developer tools called “Edge” and how the “phenomenally powerful” cell processor works. Basically, Lemarchand feels that Naughty Dog could get more out of the PS3 SPUs in the future as they continue to build on Edge....

There’s a finger friendly control scheme that offers touch-based gestures for passing, shooting and blocking in these iOS versions. We’re told thatNBA 2K12ncludes all 30 NBA teams for play in full season and quick play modes, complete with each players’ 2010-11 rosters. Expect Game Center leaderboard support as well....

Warner Bros. has announced a newLEGOgame and it’s actually based on existingLEGOIPs rather than capitalizing onpopular franchises. Shocking! LEGO Battleswill feature multiple classes of LEGO characters as they battle it out in in this handheld RTS. The game looks to be offering a lot of levels and a decent sounding single-player experience.LEGO Battlesalso supports multiplayer with up to three other players. But the folks at Tiny Cartridge have some excellent memory and realized that developer Camelot Software is actually paying homage to the originalGolden Sun’scommercial. A US TV news program has attackedPortal 2for its “controversial” attack on orphans. WBTV has claimed thatPortal 2‘s jokes are “making fun of adoption,” due to the characters of GLaDOS and Wheatley occasionally mocking the player character for being adopted. Neil Stapel, who has a ten-year-old adopted daughter, said he was “shocked and surprised” by the game’s running joke. He calls it “the worst thing I could possibly have heard.”...

As if we needed any more evidence that Nintendo is a gigantic cash cow with ripe udders bursting with delicious, fat-free cash. GameStop has revealed in its annual Securities and Exchange Commission report that the Japanese company currently accounts for a staggering 23% of its new game sales. Bear in mind that Nintendo is one of roughly 75 companies that sell through GameStop. That figure is actuallydownfrom Fiscal 2008, where it was 25%....

Capcom is once again giving one of its franchises the art book treatment. Previous,Street FighterandDarkstalkershave had art books courtesy of UDON, and now everyone’s favorite impossibly-haired defense attorneyis getting one. Due out in October, the 240-page tome contains art from all threePhoenix Wright: Ace Attorneygames, as well as fromApollo Justice. The popular DS series has a rabid cult following, and it’s great to see some extra material for the ludicrous franchise....

Hideki Komiyama, president of Sony Ericsson, hasexpressed interestin working with the PlayStation brand to help his mobile phone division break into the gaming market. Komiyama admits that Ericsson has failed to keep up with the ever-changing market, especially proving itself unable to stand up against the iPhone. Ericsson has previously worked with the Walkman and Cybershot brands, and this leads Komiyama to suggest that a PlayStation-branded phone “could happen,” also adding that: “If we do not adapt to this new technology or new market environment, we’re going to lose....
