Hydrophobia dev teasing upcoming announcement

TodayHydrophobiadeveloper Dark Energy Digital is teasing an upcoming announcement, which we can expect this Monday. What could it be? We’ll have to wait, but it seems to be a response to criticism of the XBLA title, with some speculating it could be a “revamp” or an update. It seems like the developer was listening, though. “We’d like to thank everybody who has taken the time to produce feedback on our game,” writes Dark Energy creative director Pete Jones....

Interview: Talking sound and steering with MadCatz

First off, let me apologise for the length of this video; it is an epic twenty minutes long and at no point during recording did I want to cut it short. Anyone who has seen my videos with Alex from MadCatz will know how awesome he is to interview and how much I love interviewing him; he is pure showmanship. Aside from the length of this interview, Alex and myself take a look at the new Tritton Headsets — due out autumn 2011 — which are the very first wireless headset for the Xbox 360 to have the proprietary technology that until this point Microsoft held exclusively....

LA Noire gets surprisingly colorful box art

Rockstar Games is serious about releasingLA Noireon May 17, and to prove it, it’s sent out the final box art for the game today. In Rockstar’s own words, the “artwork features Detective Cole Phelps agains the backdrop of a crime-plagued 1947 Los Angeles.” Curiously, no mention of that girl’s huge, blue face. What a mystery. Rockstar also says it will be revealing “exclusive content” and pre-order bonuses for the game tomorrow....

Lionhead is not ‘working on a PC version of Fable 2’

As much as PC-owners may want to venture to Albion for a second time, it doesn’t appear as if Lionhead are immediately committed to bringing it to the platform. A developer recently told community members via theLionhead’s official message boardthat the studio is not “working on a PC version of Fable II…” He then added, “If this changes we’ll make sure you know about it on our websites(s).” The statement has a hole big enough to drive a truck through, but it does disprove Molyneux’s sillyOctober statementthat there wasn’t an “announcement either positive or negative on a PC version of Fable 2…”...

Luc Bernard and Alex Neuse take on ‘Runner’

Runneris a game by Anthony Burch, Ashley Davis and myself — all members of the gaming press. It’s a strange game, caught in a strange situation. Who’s going to review it? Other members of the gaming press? Not likely; gaming enthusiast sites don’t tend to review free games (especially ones made by their competitors). Cutting out every other gaming site only leaves Destructoid as a potential source for reviewers.
