If you’re not familiar with the moderately popular web series “Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin‘,” we’re not really surprised. Still you may enjoy it — and if youdo, you may also enjoy the official podcast from the show’s creators. I’ll be completely honest; this week’s HAWPcast was not that great. I have a cold and Ash was tired, so our third episode has none of the groovy flow or conversational attitude of last week’s; in fact, I ended up cutting out about half the show because it was full of conversations that never really went anywhere....

I love announcements about announcements. For instance, at this year’s QuakeCon, id Software spoke at the opening press conference and revealed that there would be noDoom 4reveal … at least, not this year.Giant Bombreports that the only thing iddidsay about the game is that there won’t be any announcements regarding it until next year’s QuakeCon. See ya next year! One small (but really cool) tidbit that leaked out was thatKevin Cloud, id’s co-founder, will be running theDoom 4project, and since he’s been around since the originalDoom, that can only mean good things....

Despite Nintendo’s endless denials, talk about a Wii HD refuses to settle down. Now Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has enterd the fray, claiming that evenifa Wii 2 did release with hi-definition compatibility, that would not be enough to on its own. “If asked if making the Wii compatible with high definition — just making it compatible with high resolution — will get players throughout the world to buy it,” declares the Nintendo bigwig, “I would of course say, ‘Do you think it would sell with just that?...

Don’t get me wrong, I think theKillzoneseries often has more color in it than people give it credit for … but Holy Hell in a handbasket if these screens don’t completely justify the “all modern games are brown” stigma. They are the brownest screenshots you’ll see this morning. Any layman would think thatKillzone 3is a game about baby poop if these screens are all they have to go on. The new shots are from the alpha build of the game, and have been released just ahead of theKillzone 3beta, which will go live later today....

Kingdom Hearts 3has been confirmed by series director Tetsuya Nomura. Nomura is interviewed in a guidebook packaged withKingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Ultimaniain Japan. Details from the guide have been spilled onto the Internet, withKingdom Hearts 3and two other unannouncedKHgames, being revealed. “About the next title,Kingdom Hearts 3depends onFinal Fantasy XIII Versus, but development of the next title is already underway,” acknowledges Nomura. “There are two titles other thanKingdom Hearts 3in conception, and I think I’ll release one within this year....

Good news for those who wanted to playLara Croft and the Guardian of Lighton the 360.It turns outit will be coming out 4 weeks earlier on Microsoft’s console and then on the PS3 and PC. Jonathan Mak, the designer behind the musical shooterEveryday Shooter, has got something in the works for Sony’s upcoming handheld. It’s a musical platformer tentatively being calledSound Shapes, and it’s one of the NGP’s most surprising and hypnotic launch titles. Gameplay is not entirely unlikeGish, with players controlling a little amoeba-like blob through a musical world that’s brought to life as players progress. You can make your little glob hop with the X button, and will stick to and roll across any surface, including ceilings and up walls....
