See every inch of The Last Story’s battle system

If you understand Japanese, get ready to know more than you probably wanted to know aboutThe Last Story‘s battle system. Like the“gathering” tutorial that Jimposted a few days ago, this video is very thorough. There may be more to the game’s battle system than this, but if so, then… that’s one hell of a deep battle system. My Japanese is too poor to make out most of it, but I still enjoy just watching the way this game plays....

Sega’s Easter iOS game sale

From today through April 25th Sega will offer some of their most popular iOS titles on the App Store at a discounted price. Consider it an Easter gift, or at least 60 percent off an Easter gift that you’re buying yourself. I’d rather have 60 percent off one of those huge Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs. No offense, Sega.

Settlers of Catan on MS Surface is brilliant

Here is video of the special version ofSettlers of Catanbuilt for Microsoft Surface systems. Brilliant user interface stuff at work here and, while not the same as playing on a real board (and nothing likemy awesome set), not having to set up and tear down actual board games is the thing that draws me towards digital versions of my favorite tabletop past-times. Then I think about how impractical it would be to own a Surface....

Sim City meets Tetris in indie game City Rain

As Nick said way back in August of last yearwhen he playedCity Rain, mashing the two distinct concepts together is “ridiculous enough that it actually works.” The 2009 Independent Games Festival Student Finalist is finally playable for the rest of us lowly peons; the demo and full $9.95 downloadcan be found here. Since the screenshot above doesn’t particularly explain theSim City/Tetriscomparison, here’s howCity Rainworks in a nutshell. Siren: New Translation gets a new name, ventures outside of Japan

The new PS3Sirengame looks pants-crapping good, and this is one of the rare instances where I’ll refer to loss of bowel control as a compliment. For those of you hopefuls waiting to hear that this game will come to the US, your prayers have been recognized, if not yet answered — the game was confirmed for European release at Sony’s recent PlayStation day, and UK gamers can now download the trailer from their version of the PlayStation Store....
