Ratchet & Clank: En Busca del Tesoro is my favorite Spanish PSN game

Silly Sony Computer Entertainment Spain. The eagle-eyed users ofNeoGAFrecently discovered information on an yet-to-be-announced PlayStation Network title,Ratchet & Clank: En Busca del Tesoro. Translated, the game’s title means “In Search for Treasure,” which makes it an extremely likely candidate for being the long-rumoredRatchet & Clank: Quest for Booty. The listing also offers up little information, only indicating that the game is an 3D action-adventure title, and does feature an online mode....

Remind bedridden children what they are missing with new NiGHTS game

OK, let’s see a show of hands: Who is already getting sick of hearing aboutNiGHTS: Journey of Dreamson the Wii? Alright, very interesting. Now, who is sick of it primarily because of the 16,000 posts I have done about it in the last few days? Wow, I knew it. Well, sorry to add to the overexposure, but some new information about the game was just revealed and, I swear, some of it is almost mildly interesting....

RetRose Tinted: Renegade

[A critical eye takes time to develop. RetRose Tinted is a regular column in which I re-examine games of yesteryear to see if my memories of them live up to the reality.] In the arcades,Renegadewas a landmark game responsible for many of the concepts which became commonplace in the beat-em-up genre. Its gameplay was the core on whichDouble Dragonwas built and it is the first in a series of titles which would include such classics asSuper Dodge BallandRiver City Ransom....

Review: Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain

As a huge fan of the Steve Jackson and Ian LivingstoneFighting Fantasyseries, I was very excited to learn that the DS would be getting its own version of the role-playing books.Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountainis a dungeon-crawling, old school RPG take on the classic first book of the series, with the noble goal of bringing the game’s vivid fantasy world to life. Plenty of creative license has been invoked and there’s certainly far more fighting than fantasy, but has this led to a successful translation of the original book, or will fans come away disappointed?...

Review: Mad Dog McCree Gunslinger Pack

FMV-based games with live actors are something of aguilty pleasurefor me. There’s nothing more overtly kitschy, yet weirdly enjoyable than seeing an underpaid, underenthusiastic actor recite awful dialogue while looking straight into a camera as stuntmen fall exaggeratedly to the ground behind him. That in mind, I positively jumped at the chance to review theMad Dog McCree Gunslinger Packfor the Wii. Costing only $20, the single-disc anthology collectsMad Dog McCree,Mad Dog 2: The Lost Gold, andThe Last Bounty Hunterand upgrades them with Wiimote IR sensor support....

Review: Section 8

What’s the point in making a multiplayer game for consoles if nobody is going to play it on consoles? How exactly do you review a game you can hardly play because barely anybody else is playing it? These are the questions I face as I write this review forSection 8, a surprisingly good first-person-shooter that has painted itself into a corner, relying on a demographic that, apparently, doesn’t exist. It tries to appeal to theHalocrowd, certainly, but theHalocrowd are, unsurprisingly, playingHalo....

Runner: a (sort of) postmortem

A little while ago, I releasedRunner, a game I made alongside Jonathan Holmes and Ashley Davis. In the original release post I promised I’d write a postmortem detailing the ideas and work that went into the game. This is that postmortem. Sort of. It’s more about what I do and don’t like about the game rather than how it was made, but you get the basic idea. If you haven’t played the game yet, you can download the game fileshere(Windows only, and make sure to extract everything into the same folder)....

Say hello to my … never mind: Was a Scarface sequel lost in Acti Blizz merger?

If you were holding your breath for a sequel to Radical’s “not as bad as you’d expected” titleScarface, breath out. According to a report onVariety‘s blogThe Cut Scene, who confirmed with a “source” that a sequel was in the cards, the game may have been one of the Sierra franchises lost in the Activision Blizzard merger. There’s no details on the game, as it had never been officially announced, so there is no word on whether or not the IP will lands on its feet elsewhere....

SCEA expands executive team, we offer coffee and cake

Earlier today Sony announced that Phil Harrison was resigning from his position with Sony, and everyone was all like “WTF?” And if you haven’t alreadyheard the rumors, there’s word that Harrison might be going to work with Atari.
