Molyneux still loves Syndicate, would love to help EA

EA has been teasing us by saying theyhaven’t forgotten about old franchisesfor years now, but Molyneux has pitched in on potential future iterations of his classic Bullfrog franchises. Speaking to CVG, he had this to say: “Yes, of course. It’s a great feeling to see something you’ve created still have life or meaning. But my first thought is: ‘I wish I could just spend a day with them saying what I thought was really special aboutSyndicate, or another title for that matter....

In case you missed the announcement,Wetdeveloper A2M is making a brand new game calledNaughty Bear, a title that promises to be violent as it is adorable. No violence in this debut trailer yet, but the “adorable” part of the bargain is certainly fulfilled. Setting the scene forNaughty Bear‘s premise, this video tells how the titular hero was not invited to a teddy bear’s birthday party. NFS: Hot Pursuit is 4x larger than Burnout Paradise

EA has a nifty interview with Criterion Games’ Matt Webster in which he talks about the size ofNeed for Speed: Hot Pursuit, among other bullet-point-sounding things. “Put simply it’s around 4x bigger thanBurnout Paradise, for cars to be able to usefully reach 260 miles an hour.” According to Webster, we can expect “well over 100 miles of tarmac road and 30-40% more off-road and shortcut areas.” I’m of the opinion that bigger isn’t always the way to go (Far Cry 2says “hello”), but Criterion knows what it’s doing, so I can’t say that I’m really worried....

Ni No Kuni has breathtaking art direction, egg people

Today we got news thatDragon Quest Xis hitting the Wii in 2012, and the Wii U sometime after that. We also got word that Level-5, the co-developer ofDragon Quest IX,isn’t working on this new title. Maybe that’s because they’ve been too busy finishing upNi no Kunion the PS3. I played the gamelast year at Tokyo Game Show, and figured it would have been released by now, though it stands to reason that a game this beautiful might take a while to finish....

Nintendo DLC: The Musical Edition

There’s a group of musical offerings in this week’s update of downloadable content for Nintendo game systems. As a musician and gamer, this pleases me. WiiWare titleViolin Paradise(700 Wii Points) supports four players that can play virtual stringed instruments (violin, cello, viola) together. Someone can even be the conductor. You play as a group, covering famous classical pieces. DSiWare titleJam Space: PocketStudio(500 points) is like a little pocket recording studio....

Maybe I’m just desperate for some happy Nintendo news on this bleak Monday night, but I’m actually feeling encouraged by this token gesture of acknowledgment for Nintendo of America.Ms. (or Mr.?) Sissy Barner of Nintendo of America is sending out typewritten, hand-signed letters to those who have sent the companywritten requests for them to localizeThe Last Story,Pandora’s Tower, andXenoblade. According to the letter, Sissy Barner “…can see why you want to see games like Xenoblade, The Last Story, or Pandora’s Tower released in the Americas, but at this time we have no additional information of announcements to make regarding these games....

Ocarina of Time 3D: A 13-year-old game is a big hit today

They say nostalgia sells, but rarely does it sell this well. It would appear thatThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3Dis a huge hit, with modern gamers apparently itching to get their hands on a prettier version of a thirteen-year-old game. I can hardly blame them. The game is currentlyAmazon.com’s top selleracross all videogame software, hardware and peripherals. It has also reached second place in the United Kingdom sales charts after releasing in the country this Friday....

Pachter: Move sold ‘well below expectations’

According to industry analyst and donkey midwife Michael Pachter, Sony’s PlayStation Move has sold well below expectations. He reports that the black waggle stick has sold a mere 400,000 units since launch. Compare that to Kinect selling over a million within ten days, and a winner seems clear. “Move sold well below expectations in its first month” says the midnight lover. “… Interestingly, the higher priced Kinect controller appears to have overtaken the Move controller in the sales race....

PC patch for Super Street Fighter IV: AE delayed slightly

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Editionfans have a substantive PC patch incoming after a short delay. Originally expected to hit sometime today, the patch probably won’t go live until Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. Capcom is making up for the wait by adding a few features that weren’toriginally planned for this update. That last one makes me happy. While I can’t honestly say I’ve playedStreet Fighter(ever… ), I am pleased to see a publisher willingly strip a title of DRM....

Penny Arcade Adventures coming to PSN

I lovedPenny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darknessso much that as soon as I finished it, I promptly went back to the title screen and started a second playthrough with hardly a second thought. The type of games that perfectly cater to my desires for adventure, humor and fun are few and far between; add in the setting and time period, and I was in heaven. I’m thrilled to be able to announce that Hothead Games is bringing the title to the PS3....

Preview: Shinobi 3DS

Therumorsare true! Sega’sShinobifranchise is making its return this fall with the cleverly titledShinobi 3DS. Not a port or a remake, the title is being built from the ground up for the Nintendo 3DS with developer Griptonite Games at the helm. I recently jumped, slashed, and ninja magic-ed my way through the game’s first stage, giving me an early peek at what’s in store for our brave, portable shinobi. It apparently involves an enormous robot shark, at some point....
