TheGuitar Hero II360 song packs went live today — three songs per pack, each pack is 500 points. That’s like, six dollars and change for three songs. In some cases, songs you might not even want. Pack 1: Bark at the Moon, Hey You, Ace of SpadesPack 2: Killer Queen, Take it Off, FrankensteinPack 3: Higher Ground, Infected, Stellar These are all tracks from the originalGuitar Hero; while it should be noted that the songs do containGuitar Hero IIstyle co-op tracks (bass or rhythm guitar are playable), it’s of little consolation....

There has beengrowing concern over Bill S.978, a proposed “Anti-Streaming” bill that seeks to make felons of those who stream live entertainment without the permission of license holders. The concerns have extended to gamers, many of whom enjoy watching live plays of popular games, and now wonder if those who stream could face fines or jail in the future. Earlier today, Microsoft announced “Strategic Options,” a downloadable add-on to Ensemble’sHalo Wars. “Strategic Options” is basic expansionary content that adds three new modes of play to the main game: Keepaway, Tug of War, and Reinforcement. Let’s explore, shall we? Keepaway Mode is essentially Capture the Flag, except the flag is a “free-roaming” Forerunner Sentinel. If you grab it a total of three times, you win. Tug of War mode sounds funny: build a huge army and crush your opponent....

Following on from yesterday’s co-op problems, a number of Xbox 360 users arenowcomplaining that they’re getting disc-read-errors when attempting to playHalo: Reach. Oh dear. This is actually quite a nostalgic issue, asHalo 3: ODSTsuffered from the exact same issue, andHalo 3was pretty famous for scratched or otherwisecompletely unreadablecopies. I may have played, beaten, and reviewed Atlus’ upcoming DS RPGRadiant Historia, but I had no idea what the box art, packaging and included music CD would look like. When I get preview code, it’s on an ulgy grey, bulky re-writable ROM that protrudes out of the back of my DS. Seeing what fans picked for in an Atlus poll for the CD art makes up for the weeks that I suffered with that ugliness....

Epic Games knew what it was doing when it decided to packGears of War 3multiplayer beta access into retail copies of People Can Fly’s upcoming shooter,Bulletstorm— it was trying to get your attention. It worked in the case of 21-year-old David Walker Jr., who hadn’t become interested in the foul-mouthed, over-the-top shooter until he learned he’d be able to hop on theGears 3beta train. It was enough to get him downloading the demo for the game as soon as it hit Xbox Live Marketplace just one week ago....

The guys at High Voltage have been a bit silent since E3 and the launch ofThe Conduit. After announcingThe GrinderandGladiator A.D.I’m sure they’re hard at work actually developing those games, but it seems they’ve gotsome news coming up.
