A new Sony video has popped up on Youtube and sparked an avalanche of rudderless speculation from rabid fans. The live-action trailer contains elements of various videogames, includingLittleBigPlanet,Metal Gear SolidandTwisted Metal. Some of the references are incredibly subtle (a ghostly Kratos-esque apparition has been spotted faintly flashing up right at the end, for example) but they don’t seem to point to any one game in particular. Given the broad spectrum of references, I’m guessing that this will be hardware-related, and that some big PlayStation Vita news is on the cards....
As far as I’m concerned,N.O.V.Ais the best first-person-shooter on the iPhone, and quite possibly the most accomplished portable FPS out there. I don’t think anybody has nailed a touch-screen FPS control screen quite like GameLoft, so I’m pretty excited forN.O.V.A 2. Here’s a new trailer, and also a launch date for the game. It’ll be hitting iTunes on December 16, which is this week. I know for a fact I’ll be getting that one downloaded ASAP....

This is a run-through of a demo forSuper Bat Puncher, an entirely new homebrew game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. A platform game, you have to free the nature spirits guarding a dangerous planet and punch a lot of bats. As you obtain new abilities for yourself and the novelty boxing glove you wield, some very cool gameplay opens up as you’ll see in the video. Super Bat Puncherhas been in development for the last year and still has a ways to go....
This is sort of a weird week for LIVE Arcade. We have one game people have been wanting for some time now (X-Men), another that doesn’t necessarily seem like people are hotly anticipating (Quake Arena Arcade), and finally, there’s the one that came out of nowhere (The Path of Go). Most unfortunate of all is the pricing. While they’re free to do whatever they want in that regard, I will say that $10 forX-Menand $15 forQuakereally limits the impulse nature of those two titles....
…and they’re likely to be Nintendo games and systems. You may have already heard, but Nintendo sold 2.04 million Wii consoles last month. That’s the record for most sold in November… ever. As for the other two: Microsoft did pretty well, selling 836k units last month, a fair increase from the same month last year. Poor Sony didn’t show such great numbers, with their 378k down from last year’s 466k. If you ask me, things would have went well if they kept a $300 system on the market....
We told you that Netflix is coming to the Nintendo Wii, and now we’re passing along word that they’re already taking orders for the Wii Streaming disc. Today. You just need to log into your account andgo here. Click the button and wait for a few months, as they’re not shipping the disc until the service is ready, which they say will be sometime this Spring. In the meantime, use the service on your other console, which will probably look a bit better and do HD....
