We can argue over whether this is a boon or a detriment to gaming all we want, but when this fact means that Destructoid’ssistermanly brother film site,Flixist, gets to check out a hotly anticipated game at a premiere film festival it’s hard for us at Flixist not to call it a boon. The game was Rockstar’s upcomingL.A. Noireand the festival was this year’s Tribeca, going on right now in the grand old city of New York....

It seems as if Topware Interactive is sticking with the platforms that make them the most comfortable. Earlier this morning, the studio announced via press release that both of their upcoming PC titles,ScivelationandTwo Worlds II, are set to hit the Xbox 360 in 2010. It’s the final chart before the Yayzoos’ birthday, and that means whichever game sits atop the chart becomes the Christmas Numbah Wan. Of course, if you’ve got even a sliver of a brain in your pretty little head, you will have guessed the winner ten weeks ago. Yep, it’sCall of Duty: Black Ops. I’ve been chatting with Jan Klose, creative directer on the upcoming RPGVenetica. If you don’t know aboutVenetica, I’m not quite surprised. Despite looking really promising, the game has been met with only quiet appreciation from a handful of people. Still, Klose is pleased with the reception it’s gotten so far, but admits that it’s getting harder and harder for fresh IP to gain traction. “Of courseVeneticadoes not yet have a huge community compared to established RPG brands,” admits Klose....

What is this short film … thing? We don’t know. It’s related toMortal Kombatin some capacity, that’s for sure. Whether it’s a teaser for a new game, another full-fledged film, or something else entirely, all will probably be revealed at E3. At least, I certainly hope so; I’m dying to hear more. If the video is promotion for an unannouncedMortal Kombattitle and is indicative of an all-new direction for the series, that could be mighty interesting....
