Wow, what a total surprise. One of DC’s most iconic characters is going to be inMortal Kombat vs DC. Who ever would have guessed this would have happened. There are no January surprises to report when it comes to the latest numbers for consoles released by NPD group. The Wii wins the month with 466K units sold, while Nintendo’s other piece of hardware, the DS, had its little white back with a solid performance of 422K sold. The Xbox 360 and the PS3 sold well, shifting 323K and 277K respectively as the PSP and PS2 rounded out the month with 101K and a meager 41....
My friends from Atlus told me that a Junpei ball cap would be a pre-order possibility a few months back. I was excited then. I’m excited now, as it’s finally official. Sony has revealed a special edition ofKingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleepfor PSP. Presumably it’s just for the PSP-3000, since the PSPgo is all-digital and never gets anything, ever. As well as a neat little box, fans will be able to get their hands on two art prints, along with a 48-page art book. Fans of spiky-haired children who say the words “heart” and “darkness” over and over again will be foolish to pass it up!...
Without much notice, Crystal Dynamics has released an iDevice version of its downloadable title,Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Two versions of the game are available — one for iPhone and iPod Touch for $6.99, and another $9.99 for iPad so it looks all pretty on the bigger display. The game looks to be about the same experience as the title that hit PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC earlier this year, including cooperative play....
Valve has been up front about wanting to get players involved with testing the Cold Stream campaign forLeft 4 Dead 2on Steam. As an extension of this, the studio hasissued a challengeto the community, complete with its own reward — early access to downloadable content. 20,000 people need to survive a campaign of Cold Stream on any difficulty (see: the Stream Crosser achievement) by the end of Sunday. Doing so will result in Dead Air going live for all Steam players on July 22....
Media Molecule’sLittleBigPlanetcommunity has been busy. According to an SCEE press release today, 725,000 levels have been created since the game’s launch in November. The European arm of Sony also mentioned two more notable numbers: The game has been played more than 125 million times and over four million level comments have been logged. Of course, if you playLBPon a regular basis, you’re probably already aware of the amount of levels. There’s a lot of junk clogging the game’s creative arteries at the moment, sadly....
