Destructoid just left the Nintendo press conference, with tons of video footage to post for those of you who want to missed the live stream (or just want to watch it again). I’m sitting with Jim Sterling, Chad Concelmo and Hollie Bennett, and we’re all completely floored, and a lot of that is because of theZelda HDmock up footage running on the Wii U. Like the Space World demo ofLegend of Zelda Gamecubeof old, there is absolutely no indication that thi mock up will ever become a “real” game, but for now, we can absorb this message —Zelda HDwill happen, and it will look f*cking awesome, and you’ll be able to hold it in your arms and cuddle it all night if you so choose....

During E3, Tara Long and I spent a little time over at the Namco Bandai booth to playDark Souls. Tara had not playedDemon’s Soulsand only had hearsay to prepare her for the utter drubbing we received. I walked around a corner, saw a dragon and died. That was the first minute and I hadn’t even drawn a weapon. It never got much better though, to her credit, Tara fared a bit better than I did....

Electronic Arts has released a new shooter for the console download services.MicroBothas you controlling a microscopic ship fighting biotechnological baddies inside a human body. As you fight waves of foes, you can recover 20 different upgrades to customize your ship which sounds pretty cool. It is available right now on Xbox Live Arcade (800 MS Points) and will be hitting PSN later today ($10). The only problem I have with this game is that I’ve already seenInnerSpace....

Do you have an iPad? I do. For the most part I hate it for anything but reading and light web surfing. While I’m all for gaming on the iPhone, I don’t feel like it carries over as well on the iPad. It’s too big! There’s one area of gaming where I feel like it works, though. Board games. EA has some really good ones for the iPad.Scrabbleis probably my most played of the bunch, as they did a very nice job with it....

People are still buying Xbox 360s! I bought my Xbox 360 whenDead Risingwas first shown off,waaaaayback in the day. Remember that? And that was it. I’ve since had a replacement (RROD two years ago) and a kind Xbox 360 S gift from the fine folks at Microsoft during E3 this year, but I’ve never had to purchase another console. After ten billion years of waiting,Final Fantasy XIIIreleases today in North America, with a last-minute announcement that will give PS3 fans something else to beam about in one of the console wars’ most bitter battleground. The PlayStation 3 version of the game is getting an exclusive. XIIIPS3 will give players a “secret in-game item” for use withFinal Fantasy XIVwhen it releases later this year. They will also be in with a chance of getting into the beta....

Kelly Summer, former CEO of RedOctane, has lashed out at Activision for thecancellation of theGuitar Heroseries, stating that it could easily have continued, but the publisher abused the property. Whenever I hear the words “action figures” and “videogame” uttered in the same sentence, I usually shudder. It’s not like I can’t appreciate the art or the craftsmanship, it’s more about the tie-in. In the case of Abandon Interactive Entertainment’sFreaky Creatures, I don’t know if having to continually buy stuff in order to play a game is the right route for anyone to move in. This year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference may not have had the same bang as the “and one more thing” announcement of the iPhone, but we, at least, got a glimpse as to what games could do on the iPhone and iPod Touch platforms. Today, Freeverse announced over a dozen titles to be released on the iTunes Applications store, three of which will be available when the app store officially opens for business....
