So I’ve been playingForza 3this week. I keep trying to NOT playForza 3, but I can’t.It won’t let me. I keep turning off the Xbox and walking away to do something else, and ten minutes later I’m signing in again. It’s a force, I tell you. It’s sentient. Also, you can make Beedog itasha. There’s another shot of that after the jump. Dalewas right, though. I don’t know if I’d have given it a 10, with its painful load times and sh*tty soundtrack, but theForzaforce would probably have made me do it anyway....

You know what animal is awesome? The ostrich. Now imagine one as a hammer that you can use to take out the supports of structures and crush enemies. Are you picturing it? Yeah, it’s great, isn’t it? The folks at Volition is having a little April Fools’ fun, releasing this video of the team being forced to work on a new weapon forRed Faction: Guerrilla— the Ostrich Hammer. Inspired byNeoGAF forumPhotoshops of early in-game photos, the Ostrich Hammer may very well be the greatest piece of equipment in modern videogames....

Reggie Fils-Aime, the ham n’ mustard flavored Nintendo of America president is suitably happy with Nintendo’s massive success as of late. Unlike other executives in the PR arena, however, the beloved beefburger boss can givecredit where it’s dueand respond to the work of his competition with a touch of class and respect. Although claiming that he doesn’t feel it belongs on the PlayStation 3, Reggie had some good words to say about Sony’s upcoming exclusiveLittleBigPlanet, claiming to be “very intrigued” by the DIY platformer....

Do I really need to say any more? The games we’ll be covering tonight will be: “But Dyson, where are the rest of the games? That’s not all the Zeldas that have been made!” You’re right, folks, that’s why we’ll be doing two whole shows dedicated to our little hero in green. Any questions?

That’sIV, notVI. Dyslexic as I am, I mistakenly read the Roman numeral backward upon referencing our top-secret schedule of show topics to see what this week’s subject was, and proceeded to craft a header image featuring the opera scene. It was glorious and now I don’t get to use it. However,Final Fantasy IVis certainly not without its own merit, which is good because that’s what we’ll actually be discussing this week....

Back when the medium of choice for discriminating game players (or people who did not own an NES) was the 5 1/4″ floppy disk, labeling was fairly simplistic. Unlike modern designs covered in game art, labels were commonly white, featuring the title or logo of the game and a copyright. It may sound strange, but the label on the Commodore 64 disk forDark Castlestands out in my mind more visibly than the game itself....

Today we have two Nintendo-related rumors, both courtesy of our friends over atGoNintendo. The first sounds a bit strange to me. Apparently a GameStop insider told GoNintendo that a new bundle was coming our way for Mother’s Day. It’s a Lime Green DS Lite and Personal Trainer: Cooking bundled together. Great. Nothing says “I love you” to mom like an outdated game system and a not-so-subtle hit that she could learn to cook a bit better....

There’s nothing more fun than being expected to pay to play a game on a service you’re already paying to use, and it seems more and more likely that Microsoft is going to make such dreams a reality. A survey hasbeen unearthedthat lends more credenceto the suggestionthat MS will soon be charging for the privilege of playing1 vs. 100, as it gauges interest among the consumer for such an initiative....

Three mod stories in one night might be pushing it, but oh what the heck, this one’s important. Anyone who’s played theS.T.A.L.K.E.R.games knows the importance of a well-developed modding scene. The core idea and mechanics were always there, in varying stages of completeness. It wasn’t until the fans stepped in and tinkered with the game, though, that it all came together in perfect harmony. Continuing his previous work, Pavel Dolgov will once again be stepping up to bring us another “Complete” mod pack....

What is this I don’t even… Word on the street is that Ubisoft’sBeyond Good & Evilsequel has been canned. This attached to reports that the man behind the game, Michel Ancel is rumored to have left Ubisoft along with a “star developer” to form another studio in France. If true, Ancel hasn’t updated hisLinkedIn profile(the most important thing one can do when leaving an employer, of course), which still has him listed as a Creative Director at Ubisoft....

So, Sagat is inStreet Fighter X Tekken. By rights, I should be happier about this. Not only isSagat one of my favorite people, but the inherent hilarity derived from teaming him withTekken‘s Bob is in itself worth its weight in comedy gold. Yet, I’m left somewhat cold by this announcement. Like the tease ofCammy’s legsin the game from a week or so back, Sagat’s inclusion inStreet Fighter X Tekkenjust feels sort of obvious....

[Update: Quick update on this — we’ve been told the game will debut on Spike TV on Friday, October 29 at 1 a.m. EDT and 1 a.m. PDT, not on Thursday as earlier reported.] WithSuper Scribblenautson shelves, what’s next for developer 5TH Cell? We’ll be finding out next week, as it’ll be revealing its next game on Thursday, October 28 at 10:00pm Friday, October 29 at 1am EDT (and 1am PDT) on Spike TV....
