Namco Bandai has announced a brand new game in itsTalesseries of RPGs,Tales of Xillia. It has so far been announced as a PS3 exclusive, marking the first time a Tales game has been developed primarily on Sony’s system, as opposed to ported. Xillia(and you say that ex-sillier) stars two protagonists, Juuto Matis and Mira Maxwell, who have been designed by long-timeTalesartists Kosuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata. The theme music is performed by Ayumi Hamasaki, who has probably been posted about on Kotaku a few hundred times....
Last week,we found outthatPac-Man & Galaga Dimensionsfor 3DS had become the first game to copy Capcom’s controversialsingle-save scheme, whereby the cartridge comes with one block of data that can never be erased. Namco has since confirmed this, and said … very little to justify itself. “There is no way to erase the save from within the game itself without misusing the hardware, causing corruption,” a company rep told Shack, promising dire consequences for anybody who wants to have some control over a product they’ve paid money for....

And that’s what 505 Games is doing withNecrovision, an FPS they plan to release in 2009....

Previously, you could play up until reaching level 10 before you had to break out the ol’ wallet; now, everything is open, and you can still buy SpeedBoost items to “accelerate their career progression,” as EA expertly puts it. They really do have a way with words. I’m admittedly kind of shocked they didn’t stick with this model from the get-go, but hey, there’s nothing wrong with experimentation....

Tales of the Abyssis probably going to be the first RPG that I’ll be all up in on my Nintendo 3DS. There’s other good offerings for other genres on the horizon, but I know there isn’t anything close to this game when it comes to something I can really dig into and get lost in. As you’ll see from these new gameplay videos (2!) and screenshots from gamescom, Abyss is looking really great on the 3DS....
Remember thatJapanese Tetris video, where contestants have to contort their bodies to safely pass though gaps on fast-approaching walls? Well, this upcoming WiiWare game by Nintendo and KeysFactory looks a lot like that. Surinuke Anatousu, which means “going through holes,” has you flipping an assortment of shapes (called “katamari,” I kid you not) in 3D space and squeezing through holes to reach the end of each level before time expires. You can perform tricks by drawing silhouettes with your pieces to fill in an entire hole or earn bonus points by picking up gems along the way....
I kid, I kid. The Kama is actually a wireless nunchuk for the Wii from Nyko, and not an elegantly designed erotic love toy as the misleading title suggests. It could pass for one, though — the inclusion of that pink one especially makes me think of wireless vibrators peddled at your local Hustler store. Spicy! What’s more interesting about the Kama is that it’s kind of being marketed the same waydesigner vinyl toysare, with multiple colorways available in limited quantities....
A few weeks ago,Dynasty Warriors 6was announced for the PS3 at the PlayStation Premier event. In news that should surprise nobody, however, it’s beenconfirmedthat KOEI’s almighty slash-a-thon will be hitting the Xbox 360 as well. It won’t even be a timed exclusive — PS3 and 360 owners will get to maul Chinese peons at the same time with a simultaneous release. Thus far, there are no known differences between the two versions save for the obvious of course....
As you may already know, Xbox Live supportis going down for alloriginal Xbox games this April. Someone should really remind Microsoft that they said April as DLC for original Xbox games have already been taken down. Reader Cliff pointed us to thisNeoGAF threadwhere a number of people are complaining that they can’t download DLC for original Xbox games anymore.Joystiqlooked into the matter as well and found the same issues. This whole ordeal raises an issue I never considered before....
Don’t sleep on Klei Entertainment’sShank. It’s a 2D downloadable action title — the platform hasn’t been announced, but it seems to be at least Xbox LIVE Arcade-bound — with an artistic flair and a decent amount of violence. The game is being shown on the PAX floor through this weekend; so naturally, the studio has released a teaser. Like most teasers — more so thanComic Jumper,talk about foot in mouth — this video doesn’t reveal much detail about the title....
Pastagames, creators of the score-based arcade platformerPix’n Love Rush, have been working on a new game for iOS devices calledBurn It All. You use three colored flames to solve puzzles by burning stuff, blowing things up, burning monsters, and avoiding water and gas. Pix’N Love Rushwas a lot of fun, and the art-style ofBurn It Allis pretty cute, so it might be worth checking out when it lands on April 28th....
