It seems like we’ve been showing you screens of the Japanese version ofYakuza 3for forever now. It feels odd to be able to show off screens from the English language version. Zen Studios has announced today that its bringings its kickass pinball series,Zen Pinball, to the Nintendo 3DS via the eShop this fall. CallZen Pinball 3D, the download will feature four tables: Earth Defense, Shamen, Excalibur, and Eldorado. The title will feature support for online leaderboards, table rankings, a mission system, and local hot seat multiplayer. Oh, and it’ll be in 3D. Of course! The teaser trailer for the game shows off some of the familiar tables, which has me pretty jazzed as I’m a huge fan of Zen’s pinball titles....

According to a report by analyst iSuppli, console shipments are slowing while gaming phone shipments are on the increase. There is an increase for consoles, but it’s only 0.2 percent, which is basically nothing. In comparison, phones equipped for gaming had risen 11.4 percent. “The formidable lead enjoyed by cell phones capable of gaming will continue in the years to come with no hint of decline, and their near-universal presence gives them the potential to become a viable competitive threat to dedicated gaming platforms, primarily handheld devices,” said Pamela Tufegdzic, the report’s author....
I realize that not every gamer is cut out for the typical anime convention. While gaming and anime cultures are very closely related, I could see how some gamers wouldn’t find much appeal in a convention full of headbanded weirdos and $200 plastic figures.
