After I playedGladiator A.D., I checked out High Voltage’s upcoming Wii-exclusive FPS (built on the same stuffThe Conduitis packing)The Grinder. Like we said earlier, it’s a game heavily influenced byLeft 4 Deadin the sense that you’re fighting against hordes of creepy crawlies (zombies, vampires, werewolves, oh my!) controlled by High Voltage’s version of an AI director. But there’s a not-so-subtle twist. UnlikeLeft 4 Dead, your protagonist isn’t a well-equipped victim. He’s a professional monster hunter and the monsters know it....

At the Nintendo press conference this morning, it wasrevealedthat classic Game BoyLink’s Awakeningwould be released as a downloadable game on the 3DS eSHop “later today.” Well, “later today” is actuallynow. It is currently available for $5.99! GO! GO! GO! I have a lot of work to do here at E3, but I kind of just want to playLink’s Awakening. TAKE ME, WIND FISH!

Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will be pushing outHenry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventureto retail this March. The game’sWeb sitehas also gone live, complete with info on the game and some wallpapers to get your computer in shape for the big release. EA have also sent over some new screens of the game, and I really hope they’re actually new this time. I almost didn’t post the ESRB’srating summaryforCrysis 2because, on the whole, it isn’t as funny as previous endeavors. However, I stumbled across a revelation that is worth noting — there are exposed, necrotic buttocks! Day one buy! This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a soldier who must help defend humanity against an alien invasion. Players use handguns, machine guns, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers to kill aliens and other human soldiers in frenetic combat....

World of Battles: Morningstarmay not have the most inspiring name, and itswebsiteseems designed to keep you from figuring out what it actually is, but it looks pretty alright to me. A free-to-playTotal Warkind of MMORTS with a fantasy twist that almost looks reminiscent of the oldMythgames? That sounds like it’s worth a look for the strategy enthusiast at least. The game has gone open beta today, and shouldn’t be confused with regular plain oldWorld of Battleswhich went open beta about 2 years ago....

Oh, sweet controversy! Tongue-in-cheek hack-n’-slash gameFairytale Fightsmay be the very first console game to reward playersfor murdering kids, including as it does an Xbox 360 Achievement for killing 1,000 children. At least, it does rightnow. Whether or not it makes the final cut is up for debate. We reckon it won’t. Publisher PlayLogic isn’t too hopeful either, but it’s trying its best to push the Achievement through. It has promised that even if the Cheevo gets cut, playerswillstill be able to murder hundreds of children in the game....

There’s a realFarmVille. It’s FarmVille, Virginia, and the top players of Zynga’s popular Facebook game will be going there to plant real trees in a real orchard. The makers of Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars and Zynga have put together this promotion that will run from June 13 to Jun 21, 2025.FarmVilleplayers across the country will plant limited edition Dreyer’s/Edy’s Fruit Bars branded crops within the FarmVille game. A handful of lucky players have been selected to plant trees in real life, as well....

Capcom Mobile has taken a break fromripping off XBLA devsto create a rather cool little freebie,Zombie Cafe(iOS). It’s one of those insidious “freemium” deals, but the free portion is fun enough to take up five minutes of your time. Zombie Cafelets you run a cafeteria … with zombies. You get to infect your customers and turn them into slaves, grow your business, and destroy rivals. It’s a fun little game, but the expensive add-on content might keep you from playing it in full....

Today, Steam kicked off its support for free-to-play games — and their obligatory microtransactions — by launching five titles, all of which are now available on the service:Spiral Knights,Forsaken World,Champions Online: Free for All,Global Agenda: Free Agent, andAlliance of Valliant Arms. Tomorrow through Sunday, one game will be featured as the “F2P game of the day,” meaning anyone who plays the title in question will get exclusive in-game content for their efforts....

There’s nothing quite like a good online rivalry to keep you pumping hundreds of hours into a single game. It’s sad in the eyes of some, sure, but most of us would label it as dedication. Don’t get me wrong — I’m not talking about neglecting your newborn or anything — but there’s a certain indescribable feeling you get from getting utterly lost in a videogame. Although Friday Night Fights was much more competitive in its infancy, we have since transitioned into a “let’s just have a good time playing games that may or may not be fueled by alcohol” mindset....
