Earlier today,MTV Multiplayerspotted an odd NPC in a copy of the DS titleAnimal Crossing: Wild World,which was presumably sent along with a review copy ofCity Folkto show compatibility between the two games. Instead of the usual E-Rated greeting that most characters utter, Baarbara the Sheep tossed out a racial epithet. Her words, which you may see clearly in the above image, were originally thought to be some kind of crudely construed hip-hop greeting....

For a system that is known more about “family” bollocks and not for its online support, you could be forgiven for assuming without confirmation that local multiplayer would be a given in any Wii game. Sadly, however, High Voltage’sThe Conduitwilllack local multiplayer, although the possibility is there for a sequel. There were conflicting reports on the issue, but creative officer Eric Nofsinger has cleared up the confusion with less-than-stellar news. He strongly hinted at split-screen appearing in the sequel, but people who have real-life friends will have to look elsewhere when it comes toThe Conduit‘s June release....

D3Publisher recently revealed several new screens forCoraline,a game based on a Neil Gaimen novel and an upcoming flick of the same name. The screenshots that we were given are for the PlayStation 2 version of the game, but are probably applicable to the Nintendo DS and Wii versions that will be arriving in stores at the same time early next year. As one can readily observe from the screenshots,Coralinewill task players with puzzles, exploration, and some kind of rhythm mini-game with mice....

Just likeJim said earlier, it seems like all the publishers but Sony get that lower priced games is where it’s at for downloadable content. Sony, if you’re trying to copy Apple’s business model, make sure to get the key element right first! D3has put a temporary price drop on several of their games, includingWTF: work time fun, Dead Head Fred, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlordsand others. These and more are all now on the PlayStation Store with their new lower price....

Southpeak and Renegade Kid have unleashed the cover art forDementium II. Needless to say, it’s freaky as f**k. It’s like the ultimate facepalm too. What’s worse is that the arm is pretty hairy. It’s almost as hairy asmyarm, which is pretty hairy. While the cover art is great, I’m growing impatient for some actual media on the game. We’ve only seenone screenshotso far and no video at all.We can at least let you know that Southpeak has exclusively told Destructoid— yes the Web site that you’re reading right now — thatDementium IIwill be coming out in February on the DS....

I can’t convey to you how bad I wanted a Neo Geo console back in the day. Unfortunately, the price always held me back. I remember one particularly bad time where I traveled quite a distance to finally get one, only to hover at this location for hours, looking longingly at the box and never fully committing. In 2008, these games of the early 1990s don’t seem to have the $600 appeal that they did back then....

Here’s a highlight reel of what Battlelog offers, though I’m sure many of us know what it does far too well with theBattlefield 3beta currently open to all willing participants. When Battlelog was first announced, I was under the impression that it would be supplementary to functionality that was already fully present in the PC version ofBattlefield 3itself. Imagine my surprise, then, when I come to find out you use a web browser to join a multiplayer server, or even the campaign modes....

Either you’re the type of gamer that puts on your “cool guy” facade and goes into work, never mentioning a word about video games (except for maybe the socially acceptableHaloseries), or you’re the type that’s proud to proclaim that you’re a gamer. If you’re in the latter group, these figures might appeal to you. I’m a full-blown member of the latter group. I have to swim through game and anime trading figures to make it into my office, and I trip over manga and PSP game boxes on the way....

A pair of newDoctor Whogames have been announced.Evacuation Earthfor Nintendo DS andReturn to Earthfor Nintendo Wii are reported to be in development by Asylum Entertainment. The games will land in the UK and Australia, but I highly doubt that they’ll come round to America. And that’s probably fine. I hadn’t heard of Asylum Entertainment and what I’ve found of them isn’t particularlypromising. This sounds like shovelware aimed at kids, which is a shame for a property which is ripe with possibilities for games and has been showing a much more mature side of late....

If pouring overpre-release coverageofDragon Age: Originsexpansion “Awakening” isn’t enough for you, perhaps a new line of pre-release comics will be. Rekindling an old relationship, EA and Penny Arcade are releasing a six-part comic over the next few weeks leading up to the expansion’s release. you may read the first part this afternoon via thegame’s official Web site, where you’ll be able to see the others later. The comic revolves around a “shadowy figure” trying to break into Vigil’s Keep....

The Dragon Ball Game Project Age 2011 wetoldyou about a couple months back has (thankfully) been renamedDragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi. It’s… well, it’sDragon Ball. You fly, you fight, you shoot powerful blasts of energy out of every orifice, and yadda yadda. How do these games still get made? They just rotate the same cast of characters! I’ve got an idea: make some up! The movies did it, so I don’t see why they can’t give me someone else to fight instead of Raditzagain....
