How appropriate that on the Spike Video Game Awards that a game based on a Spike TV show was announced. Deadliest Warrior, a show where (according to Wikipedia) “historical warriors are pitted against each other to see who can outlast the other,” gets its own game in 2010. It sounds like it’ll be a downloadable title, developed by Pipeworks Software. who made such games asGodzilla: Unleashed,Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters, andGodzilla: Save The Earth....

It’s noShadows of the Empire II, but we’ll take aForce Unleashed IIannouncement all the same. In fact, we have taken it and now we’re pushing it around in our mouths, savoring it for the time being. Yesterday,MTVMultiplayerspoke toWorld of Warcraftdesigner Jeff Kaplan about achievements inWoW. What was then revealed was Blizzard’s cross-title system called “Blizzard Account” which will track Achievements across all Blizzard games includingStarcraft IIandDiablo III. Blizzard Account isn’t necessarily ready yet, but theWoWteam will use theWrath of the Lich Kingexpansion to test it out. There’s more, though. Every Achievement earned will go towards a players “Blizzard Level,” which is essentially a scalable version of Xbox Live’s Gamerscore....

Siliconeralinks us to news that the upcoming limited collector’s edition version ofStrangleholdfor the PS3 will be region-free. This news came from Midway’sofficial forumsas an answer to the demands by many fans. Now those in Europe and Asia can import this title that comes with a Blu-ray version John Woo’s “Hard Boiled” without having to worry about territorial protection. Seeing as how the movie and game will be on the same disc, all of the limited edition’s content will be region-free....

History and common sense teach us all a valuable lesson in dealing with people whose religious beliefs don’t parallel your own: violence is only acceptable if you’re willing and able to decimate the opposition. It appears that a University of Virginia student didn’t take that into account when creating what is reportedly a game with an atheistic bent in which you travel back in time to “nip the problem in the bud” by killing Abraham, Mohammed, and the authors of the Bible....

Aww, this is a little bit of weird news, but cool for fans of very pretty Japanese videogames. As some of you might know, famed Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli, the creators of such illuminous films asPrincess MononokeandSpirited Awayhad been working on the animation for a Level 5’s upcomingNi no kuni: The Another Worldfor the DS. While this in itself is exciting, what is more interesting is what Famitsu announced today....

Mecha-Zangief!!! Super Street Fighter IVis dropping on March 30 and will be packed with new features. The latest trailer for the game gives us a small taste of what to expect from the new content. Each character will now have three alternative costumes and it looks like Zangief’s and Cammy’s new alts are the best.Superwill also include new story elements and new badass looking Ultra Combos. There’s a lot shown in the trailer, but there is still a ton of stuff, including new characters, that we have yet to see....

Some new test footage ofJetpack Brontosaurushas been released. Inthis first video, it shows off how the Brontosaurus can fly around and land on the simple test level. From the new information, it looks like the game will be set in some sort of dream world. The colors change randomly and you can also get an X-Ray view of the dinosaur due to the jetpacks. Jetpack Brontosaurus will include some other Dinosaurs as you can see by the concept art above of the Dream Stegosaurus....

While the standard PlayStation 3 Slim’s 120 GB hard drive seems like a reasonable enough amount of space, at least from the perspective of someone who is sort of used to deleting stuff on his Xbox 360’s aged 20 GB HDD, I can definitely see why a person would want more room for games, movies, or whatever. Likewise, Sony understands this too, and wants to give gamers the option of having more hard drive space without having to unscrew their PS3s....

At its showcase in Tokyo today, Electronic Arts has announced a new title for the Nintendo 3DS calledMy Garden. It’s what it sounds like, a 3D simulator “inspired by nature” where players will plant and grow hundreds of flowers in their very own garden. The game will feature six environments to cultivate your flowers in, including nighttime roof, Japanese, and desert gardens. Players will be able to explore their gardens in full 3D, even whistling into the 3DS microphone to attract birds....
