Ubisoft has revealed that Episode One ofRayman Originsis currently planned to be out in time for Christmas, giving old school fans a platforming treat to keep them warm during the Winter holidays. The rest of the episodes will follow on XBLA and PSN throughout 2011. In addition to the console digital releases, it’s also been revealed that other platforms, including the 3DS, are being considered. Since this is Ubisoft we’re talking about, “considered” most likely means that there are definite plans in place....

A Florida man’s PlayStation Portable was charging on his nightstand for about an hour until it suddenly exploded, sending the portable game system flying. Bob Nixon was watching television and smelled something burning. While he was walking around his home to find the source of the smell, he heard a popping noise which turned out to be his PSP exploding....

A rather substantial rumor has slapped into the Internet’s greasy hands today, with talk of a nostalgic collection that will bringICOandShadow of the Colossusto the PS3 in HD. The rumor has been reported by bothVG247andThe Sixth Axis. Everybody knows that two sources make a rumor true! The rumors say that the HD re-releases will launch in the first quarter of next year, and if true, it will likely come out in time to promote Team ICO’s first big PS3 game,The Last Guardian....

According to aKotakureader and Best Buy employee, the big box retailer will be offering up a pretty sweet pre-order item forGears of War 2— a remote controlled tank. The vehicle, a “real-life” remote controlled version of the Centaur COG vehicle is supposedly only being offered up as a pre-order item through Best Buy. It looks like the pre-order program will begin starting on October 5. The Best Buy employee slipped the information out a recent pre-holiday meeting, and Microsoft or Epic have yet to confirm the remote controlled tank, so hold on to this as a rumor until they actually do....

Today Sony announced the Qore, presented by the PlayStation Network. Qore is online interactive programming that covers the world of PlayStation on a monthly basis. Navigated by your PS3 controller, Qore will feature “exclusive multimedia news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scene looks at the hottest PLAYSTATION games.” On the first Thursday of every month, a new Qore episode will be available for $2.99 on the PlayStation Network. Or, for the hardcore, you can nab an annual subscription for $24....

For those of you looking for something a little different for your PlayStation 3, this one’s for you. A listing for a Silver Dual Shock 3 controller has appeared onEBGames.com. The retailer indicates that the controller will be shipping on June 24, so you might want to hold off on any Dual Shock 3 purchases. The price point, $54.99, remains the same as the traditional black controller. Anyone plan on picking one up, perhaps trading in some of those “so fall of 2006” SIXAXIS controllers and getting this slick looking silver badboy?...

The whole cancellation ofSix Days in Fallujahhas got me immensely pissed off and made me want torant my head offabout how games should be more then just random shooting and should really try to approach real life issues and stories. However,when I rantit sort of goes on a little long and the current opus is still under development. Thankfully, CEO of Atomic Games, developer ofSix Days, Peter Tamte is far more succinct and has summed up my feelings on the subject very well ina recent articlewhere he discussed the game’s cancellation....

When it comes tonegative press, Sony doesn’t screw around. BloggerTom Chickwas all set to have an interview with Sucker Punch concerning the launch of PS3 exclusiveinFAMOUSbut unfortunately the interview had to be canceled. By “canceled,” we of course mean, “ignored in a sulky huff without the interviewer even knowing the promised meeting was off.” Chick was understandably confused as to why he’d been stood up, and asked Sony what the deal was....

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend an Activision preview event where we spent time with several of their upcoming games. Believe it or not, the game that really took us by surprise wasSpider-Man: Web of Shadowson DS. Yes, I said DS. The headline totally gave it away:Spider-Man: Web of Shadowsis a sidescrolling action platformer, in line with other Metroidvania-type titles. Why didn’t they think of this before? The rest of theWeb of Shadowsreleases on other consoles (Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360) consist of 3D web-slinging and high-flying combat, but that wouldn’t work as well on the DS....
