Free App of the Day: Robokill

Community member Sagatron pointed me towards the iPhone version ofRobokill, which is free today. It’s a mobile port of the Flash shooter, which you may playhere. I found the controls to take some getting used to, as the dual virtual analog sticks and variable movement speed can make it a bit of a pain to navigate. When you add ledges that lead to instant death if you fall to your doom, that’s not exactly helpful either....

Free stuff coming to Metal Gear Online this month

Two free, um, things are coming toMetal Gear Onlinesoon. On May 12, you’ll be able to sink your teeth into Race Mission. It’s a new game mode that has two opposing teams carrying around (or protecting) a “GA-KO target” through a variety of checkpoints within a time limit. Game Debate to the Death! Xbox 360 VS Wii VS PS3

Last week was one of the larger game debates of the year, with a wide variety of games submitted by the Dtoid Army for consideration. Dozens of games received five or less votes, but when all the comments were tallied, five games stood above the rest, with a clear winner on top. The Dtoiders have spoken, here are the results: This week we take one final break from our continuing theme of odd debate console-by-console tournaments, and move on to a debate about the actual consoles....

Games of the week for 01/04/08: I hugged the Destructoid community …

… and now I’ll never need Viagra. This week’s totally not-game-related video is dedicated to just one person — you. Well, that actually means several thousand people, butshut up. One of the many videos that came from the Dtoid community last year to celebrate the site’s second anniversary, I felt that after a long and reflective weekend, a fair few members of our fine little club could do with a small reminder of what it’s all about....

Games of the week for 05/11/08: Shilling friends edition

I can see why Nex enjoyed posting the Games of the Week feature when he was in charge of it, because it’s essentially a tiny little soapbox upon which you can peddle any kind of crap you like. Since nobody even spends time reading it, eager as they are to post a reply telling us what they’ve been playing this week, I can essentially get away with cheap and tactless plugs for other Web sites....

Games on Demand: Trivial Pursuit, Bolt, and FaceBreaker

If games likeFaceBreaker,Bolt, andTrivial Pursuitcould talk, A) that’d be kind of alarming and B) they would be eternally grateful for Games on Demand. These poor games — with the exception of maybeBolt, because kids are silly — would be forgotten. Retail has no room for these outcasts. They belong on the Island of Misfit Games, if you ask me. Major Nelsontells us these threeare now a part of the diverse Games on Demand family....

Halo on the DS?

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. “No way in hell.” And you’d be right, but just to put our curiousity at rest, let’s see what IGN editor Matt Casamassinahas to sayon the subject: Once upon a time, a very smart publisher came up with a brilliant idea. It contacted Microsoft and got the ball rolling on a very unlikely project: Halo for Nintendo DS. Needless to say, there were many egos involved and unfortunately because of some issues that I won’t detail, the project was eventually cancelled....

Home invasion in National Geographic Challenge! trailer

I’ve noticed that over the last few years I’ve become progressively more stupid. While this may be the result of reading more comics than newspapers, it might also be due toNational Geographicnot educating me enough through my favorite medium, videogames. So thank god forNational Geographic Challenge! It’s going to attempt to educate us about mankind’s greatest achievements by making us fight. But not with swords, no. With knowledge. Four players can compete to control territory by answering questions correctly and by using dastardly tactics to defeat their less intelligent foes....
