Orion: Prelude now lets you play AS a dinosaur

For a whilewe’ve kept tabs onORION: Prelude, and the developers have now tipped us off to the fact that the game will featureplayabledinosaurs in aLeft 4 Dead-esque multiplayer mode called “Dino Attack.” Each dinosaur type will behave as a certain class, having similar roles and abilities toLeft 4 Deadzombies such as the tank and hunter. Unfortunately we have no footage of this new mode because it’s very early in development, but Spiral Game Studios would like to assure us that this feature will not delay the development of the game whatsoever....

Peek at concept art from Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

The last time we talked aboutGhost Recon: Future Soldier(yesterday!) we mentioned that we’d like toseemore, and not just read about it. I don’t know that concept art really fills that void, but it’s better than nothing. Here’s some concept interesting art from the upcoming release. It’s all quite lovely, too — even the exploding ship and the flying dudes (above). As for the locales: lots of snow, lots of water. Russia and men in black, busted aircraft and a rainy port all look like fantastic backdrops for the nextGhost Recon....

Phoenix, AZ can lick my balls

Not only is it too hot, filled with too many people who are convinced they’re in a different state (1/2 of the teenagers dress, talk, and act like they’re in Southern California, most of the adults are convinced they’re cowboys in Texas, and the other half of the teenagers fancy themselves introspective, artistic, bohemian New York emos), and completely void of anything of interest or importance, but we get our video games late, too....

Piracy not the reason for Gears 2’s Xbox 360 focus anymore?

Despite the fact thatGears of War 2lead designer Cliff Bleszinski cited piracy as a big reason for focusing development of his game on the Xbox 360, Epic main man Mark Rein has decided to be a Contrary Mary and give a different analysis. Here’s what Cliffy had to say on the issue: Here’s the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know BitTorrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software....

Platinum Games blog reveals intimate Bayonetta details

Here’s a confession: I’m fascinated by game design. As someone with very few creative impulses of his own, I love reading creative people describe how they get work done. Thankfully,Platinum Games boss Hideki Kamiyahas been indulging me with what he callsthe “Bayo-blog,”a dev blog about (you guessed it!)Bayonetta. Over the past few months, different members of theBayonettateam have come in to describe a little bit about what they do, and the different decisions they’ve had to make during the development process....

Pre-order Split Second, get a vehicle of some sort

Exciting, huh? Black Rock’sSplit Secondprovides so many thrills that the studio decided to turn the insanity down a notch for the game’sobligatory GameStop-exclusivepre-order bonus. As you can clearly see, a reservation will net you the above in-game car, and a die-cast model of said car. Or not, as the “not final car” warning tells us. Like I said, they used all of the truly crazy ideas forSplit Secondalready. I think the real takeaway here is the reminder that this game isn’t being released anytime soon....

Reminder: 5 more days left for the Little Red Riding Hood BBQ contest!

Ah, contest reminder time: an excellent excuse to follow tradition and request that Conrad Zimmerman show millions of readers his “tender” side. By “tender”, I actually mean that he’d be most likely to strangle the Big Bad Wolf using a wild forest vine and then sit on its corpse and enjoy a cigarette (or if the contents of his basket are to be believed, a whole carton of them). At any rate, our Little Red Riding Hood BBQ contest is winding to a close soon and we wanted to remind you all that we don’t have nearly enough embarassing pictures of you doing your best Riding Hood impression (you’re able to see all the other entrieshere)....

Review: SteelSeries Siberia for iDevices

In 2004 SteelSeries released a headset designed for PC gaming known as the Siberia Neckband. This innovative design meant the player wore the band around the back of their neck and not over the top of their head — apparently designed for those European boys who like to spike their hair up. Now Steelseries have reworked the Siberia Neckband to make it compatible with iPod, iPad and iPhones to bring their first headset specifically designed for mobile gaming....
