Super Mario Land’s complete level maps laser etched onto a laptop

Now, only gamers would think or say this, but this is classy as hell! For one,Super Mario Landis my jam, and it’s good to see it getting respect. Secondly, everytime this guy (revolvingdork on Flickr) pulls out his laptop, he’s going to receive mad geek props. Oh, and lasers are sweet. His Flickr page says that the etching on the lid of his Asus EEE pc lays out everything between World 1-1 to World 4-3 from the classic Game Boy platformer....

Surprise! Leisure Suit Larry busts all over shelves soon

The history ofLeisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bustfor Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC is an odd one. It wasquietly leakedby way of one of the game’s voice actors. Later, it was in limbo when the game’s publisher, Sierra, went bust. Then, all of a sudden, it wasbeing published by Codemasters. Now? The Xbox 360 and PC versions are coming out, with little to fanfare, on April 1 for $29.99. That’s no joke....

TGS 09: Resonance of Fate gets a trailer

Tokyo Game Show is this week, so you’re able to expect plenty of Moonspeak trailers this week. One of the first to hit is from tri-Ace, with a brand new video promotingResonance of Fate. This Sega-published RPG is a steampunk adventure said to be a little different from the norm. I don’t know about any of that, but the music’s really cool. We’ll see how it goes. I’m still yet to ever be impressed by tri-Ace, so we’ll see if the guns and machines mask yet another “paint-by-numbers” RPG full of the same emo characters and save-the-world tropes....

TGS: Hands-on interview with Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

This is the first time I’ve playedMarvel Vs. Capcom 3since E3, and the game has gotten even more awesome since then. I still sort of suck at it, but since so many of the game’s characters are new, weallsort of suck at it. I even stood a chance against the great Seth Killian, as you can see for yourself in the video above. The new characters really make the game worth freaking out over....

TGS: Hands-on with Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure

If you ask me what my favorite Nintendo DS games are, it won’t take me long until I bring upElite Beat AgentsandProfessor Layton. Imagine my surprise when I discoveredRhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure, a game for the 3DS that pretty much combines the two into a European-themed mystery with rhythm action driving the narrative. The visuals are every bit as charming asProfessor Layton; even though SEGA is copying Level-5, the quality of the art direction speaks for itself....

Hello persistent friends! I’m back in action after a week away working at Comic-Con. So, what did we miss? Let’s investigate. Without further ado — there’s games to pursue! “Death of a Galaxy. Birth of a Republic.”The big MMO story out of the past week and a half has to beStar Wars: The Old Republicand BioWare’s info overload stemming from their appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2011....

The Memory Card .57: Jade’s moment of silence

There are many different reasons specific videogames are great. Some have outstanding characters, some have surprisingly intelligent writing, and some contain beautifully orchestrated music. It is thisdirectionof a videogame that often gets overlooked by the general gaming population. Triplet of super awesome NBA 2K12 launch videos

This is pretty much the best sports game commercial EVER! I may be a die hard Dodger fan, but I love San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Brian Wilson. He’s not be my favorite guy to see take the mound when my beloved bums are at bat, but he’s one absolutely hilarious dude. Anyway, minor man crush aside, in this video he discusses the awesomeness that was the ’86 Celtics dressed as Larry Bird whilst petting a cheetah....

Ubisoft dev tells the story of quitting with a game

Usually most jobs end one of two ways: either you get asked to leave, or you leave of your own accord. There was also that time where I had to evacuate because of a hurricane and my actual workplace got blown off the face of the earth, but that’s a story for another time. Anyway, ex-Ubisoft dev William David decided he wanted to tell his story of why he left Ubisoft in a different way, so he made a flash game (which you can play righthere)....
