Islands of Wakfu coming to Xbox Live Arcade, nothing to do with Shaq-Fu

The idea of a company known mostly for obscure PC MMOs doing an XBLA game sounds pretty atrocious, but looking at these screens forIslands of Wakfu, I must confess to being rather charmed. Scheduled for release in late 2009, this will be developer Ankama’s very first console title. It claims to be part adventure game and part “beat ’em all” style fighter, and is set in the same world as the company’s earlier MMO games,DOFUSandWakfu....

Japan’s Ad-Hoc Party for PSP update gets many new supported titles

Do you know what Sony’s Ad-Hoc Party is? We saw a demonstration at Tokyo Game Show this year. It is software that adds to the PSP’s online abilities through a net-connected PS3. Basically, it’s a PSP link to the PlayStation Network using the PS3. There’s even voice chat and PSEye cam support. Although in Japanese, the above video does a good job of demonstrating how it works. When the beta first launched, only a couple dozen titles were supported....

Jimmie Johnson’s game looks as nutty as it sounds

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t know NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson from a hole in the wall. He’s one of the sport’s top drivers, but since I don’t watch NASCAR, why should I care about his upcoming game,Jimmie Johnson’s Anything With An Engine? The answer: it lets you drive a dumpster. The game was announced last week, and it sounds crazy. It’s an over-the-top racer that slaps engines and wheels on regular objects (a dumpster and a lawnmower were given examples) and lets you race them against other similarily whacky vehicles....

Joe Danger is off to a great start with its first trailer

This reveal trailer forHello Games‘Joe Dangeris great for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the game is oozing with colors I forgot even existed after years of gloomy-looking videogames. I admire the simplicity as well; sure, you’re supposed to pull off mad trickz, but doing so looks intuitive. And then there’s the fantastic music. Is it just me, or does that song sound like a mix between something you’d hear inYoshi’s IslandandWario Land?...

Konami might be done with Konami IDs

Konami IDs might be taking a hike. Speaking withGamekyo, Konami confirmedPro Evolution Soccer 2010wouldn’t use the publisher’s bloated online scheme. In other words, players won’t have to create two different accounts for the pleasure to play the game online. Apparently, Sony and Microsoft will be handling the servers. While the publisher didn’t say it was all over, we’ll take this as a decent indication that Konami gets it. People are tired of wading through menus, creating passwords with over 40 characters (with punctuation) and having to buyMGOcontent outside the PlayStation Store....

LEGO my Halo

I swear, the blogosphere (buzzword, -5 street cred)would not survivewithout LEGOs. When they aren’t being used to make awesome video games out of popular licenses, they’re being used to create mostly awesome replicas of popular licenses. (Un)Like so many before them,Legohaulic‘s Warthog and Spectre (courtesy ofHalo 2) replicas look like total badasses; although, that may be due to the dramatic lighting and photography. Or maybe I like these so much because I was never really good at LEGOs....

Lil’ Sims returning to Wii and DS with MySims Kingdom

Eletronic Arts has announced that it will be bringing the adorable littleMySimsback to Nintendo’s platforms withMySims Kingdomfor the Nintendo DS and Wii. In what appears to be a story-basedThe Simstitle,MySims Kingdomputs players to task with helping King Roland build up “the Kingdom” and bring it back to its former glory. The game will feature all of the customization you’d expect from the franchise, in addition to a new set of characters including Princess Butter, which I’m pretty sure was an adult film I saw in high school....

LittleBigPlanet producer hints at upcoming public beta, fall release

I think it’s safe to say we’re all tired of waiting for Sony to releaseLittleBigPlanetfor the PlayStation 3. It was first revealed at last year’s Game Developers Conference to squeals of delight from the gaming community and press, and we’re just a little over a month away fromthisyear’s GDC. We were “promised” a demo in late 2007, but that fell through. So what gives? At CES, Sony’s Jeff Rubensteinstopped byand spoke withLittleBigPlanet‘s producer Kyle Shubel, who walked him through some of the game’s “Create” functions....
