Weapons of Fate exec producer takes a bite out of the multiplayer issue

Apparently Pete Wanat is a guy who speaks my language, at least when it comes to gaming. In a recent appearance onGameSpot’s HotSpot podcast, the Executive Producer forWanted: Weapons of Fatespoke his mind about multiplayer games and the effort spent adding multiplayer modes to games that may not necessarily need them. A quote from the podcast: For the most part, we waste our money and our time building multiplayer levels … And why do we do this?...

Who runs like that? Dude from Time Crisis: Razing Storm

Namco Bandai sent along word that arcade gameTime Crisis: Razing Stormhas gone gold, and will be coming to the PS3 with Guncon andPlayStation Move supportwhen it is released on October 19th. Good news, I’d say, as I’m a whore for the arcade shooters, and I’m looking for even more to try out my new Move controllers on. Now, Namco Bandai said that there were new assets for us to share with you, but when I looked to see what they had, the only new stuff was some art....

Why Rambo Arcade is the dumbest, most brilliant shooter ever

Every Wednesday, Destructoid highlights an overlooked game that shouldn’t have been. Rambo, the relatively recent SEGA arcade game, is the dumbest game I have ever played in my adult life. I mean this in the most complimentary way possible. There is a stunning honesty toRambo; it is a game with absolutely no illusions. It is utterly devoid of pretentions, innovation, apology, or moral justification. It wishes to be a stupid, shallow, gratuitously violent male power fantasy, and absolutely nothing more....

Wii lightsaber game revealed, and dreams get crushed

If yourememberjust the other week, the Internet was full of chatter regarding the statement from Jim Ward of LucasArts that they were already having a blast with the prototype of a Wii lightsaber game they had a chance to play. If you also recall, we were a bit hesitant to get too excited about it, since we knew they could very well be talking about the upcomingLEGO Star Wars: The Complete Sagagame....

Win some crap in the God of War II machinima contest

GameStop/EB Games have teamed up withMachinima.comto bring the world aGod of War IIuser video contest. First prize includes $750 worth of GameStop/EB Games gift cards; aGod of War IIstrategy guide; aGod of Warfigurine;t-shirts; and some other junk you can sell on eBay. Personally, there are a few things keeping me from entering this contest. For one, I’ve never been motivated to create a piece of machinima in my life. I don’t have the time, nor do I have the desire to make Kratos and a cyclops dance around to a Fall Out Boy song....

Zen teams with Twisted Pixel for Ms. Splosion Man pinball

Pinball masters ZEN Studios and weirdos Twisted Pixel have announced today that they’ve teamed up to release aMs. Splosion Man-themed table this summer. Do want. The table will be available forPinball FX2, which is already home to a slew of awesome Marvel Comics tables and more, all of which I play obsessively. TheMs. Splosion Mantable takes assets and characters directly from the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title, which actually hits the service next week....

‘PSP2 vs. 3DS is like PSP vs. DS’

When Nintendo revealed that 3DS games would received a fairly significant graphical upgrade, it looked like the company was finally meeting some visual standards. However, the bar looks set to be raised even higher, with PSP2 widening the gap to ludicrous degrees. AnANONYMOUS SOURCEspeaking to Edge has corroborated earlier claims that the PSP2 would rival a PS3 in terms of visual power and boast twin analog sticks. It also added that the graphical difference between the PSP2 and the 3DS would be “comparable to the difference which exists between PSP and DS....

2K Sports working on a new boxing title?

Outside ofMike Tyson’s Punch Out!!(which I’m playing right now, between typing words), the videogame boxing-genre has been completely dominated by EA Sports, and their extremely solidFight Nightseries. And besidesWii Sports‘ “boxing” (and to a lesser extent, the Wii titleVictorious Boxers: Revolution), there’s been no real challenge that’s been brought to the market. That may be changing soon, as word has it that EA Sports “rival” 2K Sports may be bringing a new boxing title to the market....

3DS giving error messages when suspending games

One of the new features of the 3DS is the ability to suspend software, allowing you to leave a game while keeping your progress intact. Unfortunately, a number of users are getting error messages instead of sweet 21st Century convenience. In true Nintendo fashion, the message itself is completely unhelpful, simply telling you that there’s a problem and you need to turn the 3DS off. The good news is that it doesn’t seem to cause much harm outside of minor irritation....

Ar Tonelico III calls itself ‘The World’s Greatest RPG’

Or does it?!?! Indeed, that’s quite a bold statement to make for a B-list (even in Japan) developer (Gust) to make for their game, which is set to release in the wake ofFinal Fantasy XIIIandon the same frickin’ dayas Tri-Ace’s bullet-blasting extravaganzaResonance of Fate. But there’s more to it than that. That very declaration, placed at the end ofthe new trailer(about 3:55) shows some clever wordplay at work. While the voicing of the line translates (roughly) as “The world’s best/strongest RPG, rings out here,” the actual Japanese kanji for “strong” is replaced with the character for “symphony,” which is pronounced the same way....
