Ninja Gaiden and Rygar arcade games rated by ESRB for VC

If you were worried about the low quantity of Virtual Console releases as of late, there are still good things a-comin’. Over on the ESRB website,Siliconeraspotted ratings information for the arcade versions ofNinja GaidenandRygar. Good times. Both of these games are pretty different from the ports that gained popularity on the NES.Ninja Gaidenis a beat-em-up instead of a run-and-gun platformer and it has some really great art and animations.Rygaris less of a departure, but doesn’t have the world exploration aspect that the home console port features, which is a big part of its appeal for me....

Nintendo 3DS raw materials cost $101, says firm

UBM TechInsights VP of technical intelligence David Carey told Eurogamer that the $250 Nintendo 3DS that you’re going to pick up this weekend cost about $100 to make. This is what they gathered from their preliminary estimate, mind you. Carey says that this is about $15 more than what it cost to build the DSi at launch. It’s really hard to look at it this way, but it seems like you could say that $15 more in cost could have added 3D capabilities to the DSi....

November 3DS system update adds 3D video recording, more

While not nearly as exciting asSuper Mario 3D Landreleasing, November will also see the 3DS get a new system update. It’ll introduce the ability to capture 3D video footage, which I predict many of us will use exactly once before forgetting such functionality exists. Beyond that, the update adds more content to the StreetPass Mii Plaza. Grand news for anyone who had their 3DS at PAX Prime last month, I suppose....

Op Flashpoint: Dragon Rising’s hardcore mode is exactly that

Plentiful checkpoints, tons of cover, and regenerating health? What happened to you, first-person shooters? Things have gotten to the point where now if we want to play at a higher difficulty, we have to put up with extremely cheap tactics from the enemy AI. Don’t pretend like you don’t know what I’m referring to, either. Since when is every soldier in your two-bit army as capable and determined as a T-800?...

Partial setlist, new images from Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will rock your socks

Guitar Hero: On Tourwasn’t the only game that was playable at last week’sGuitar Herohands-on event in San Francisco. Activision was also showing off the PS3, 360, and Wii versions ofGuitar Hero: Aerosmith. Since I write very slowly, and obviously can’t remember all the songs that the preview build featured, I’m very glad that RedOctane has provided a list of the 25 songs that we had access to on Wednesday. I mean, I sure as hell wasn’t going to scribble all of them into my notepad at the event....

pOnd is like flOw and flOwer but much more awesOme

Do you missReverend Anthony? I sure do. Like with.Tiff, what he provided for Destructoid could never be replaced. I still read hisTwitterthough, which might be as close as I’m going to get to seeing him write for Dtoid again. It was there that I spotted this game,pOnd. If you’re a long-time reader of the site, playing it will definitely remind you of Anthony, but it’s more than nostalgia that lead me to enjoy this game....

Preview: The Beatles: Rock Band (Vocal Trainer)

Vocal harmonies are something that many gamers have wanted to see inRock Bandsince the franchise’s inception. So what better place is there to introduce the feature than in a game with the music of The Beatles? After all, most Beatles songs have multiple vocal parts, and the harmonies are always fun to sing. But The Beatles were a group of extraordinarily talented musicians; it’s not like their harmonies are mere major thirds....

Preview: Uncharted 2 multiplayer

I was a bit late to the party when it came toUncharted: Drake’s Fortune, having only played it in the last couple of months. It’s clear to me why the game is so beloved among PlayStation 3 owners, as the high-octane action never stops once it gets going, and the title is easily one of my favorites for the console. When I went to Los Angeles last week to attend Sony’s Gamers Day, I was aware thatUncharted 2: Among Thieveswas to be a major part of the festivities....
