New trailer for The Secret World tastes like zombie

A brand new trailer has been revealed for Funcom’s interestingly contemporary MMO,The Secret World. This new video uses the in-game engine for the first time and tells the story of Kingsmouth, a quiet little town that has been overrun by zombies. How rude! Zombies are just one part of this interesting MMO. Global conspiracies, bizarre monsters, and all manner of shady goings-on are what will hopefully set this game apart from all the other would-be massive multiplayers out there....

Nintendo ‘not good’ at making games like BioShock

If there’s one thing Nintendo is good at, it’s making overtly humble statements to make it look like it’s got the common touch. Enter Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, claiming that his company relies on third parties to fill gaps in its own development. “The fact of the matter is we know we create great content for younger consumers, we know we’ve got great content for more casual players, and we want fantastic content for that more active player who lovesMetroidorZeldabut maybe also wants something like aBioShock 2to play as well,” claims Reggie....

Nintendo’s early 2009 release list reveals a lackluster line up

We get these lists of releasesfrom the Japanese Nintendo site(PDF file) and see lots of stuff we already know. But there’s always one or two head-turners. Nothing too exciting, but they’re still worth going over. Things of note: If this is a full through-summer list, then things are looking pretty slim from first-party Nintendo. That’s pretty sad. Other than the new Punch-Out!!,Wii Sports Resortis like the highlight of the first half of the year....

PAX 09: Assassins Creed II marketing gets clever

There is so muchbad marketingout there. Companies just seem to miss the point more than hit it when it comes to coming up with clever ways to advertise their new games. Thus, when a company actually does something that is clever or outside of the box, I think we should inform you of it. This year at PAX we’ve already had someclever meme use, but not to be outdone Ubisoft has stepped up and shown that it can go entirely original with its clever advertising....

PAX East 10: Hands-on the Move’s Sports Champions

SCE didn’t drop a bombshell when it revealed that a first-party sports compilation package would hit shelves alongside its PlayStation Move hardware. The real surprise is that at least two ofSports Champions’mini-games will offer more than the rest of the clutter. Thank the fidelity. In Boston last afternoon I was able to go hands-on with “Gladiator Duels” and “Ping Pong,” two games being offered in the game-richSports Champions. Neither of the titles were flashy, but each prove that the combination Move’s depth-tracking and pinpoint precision can produce better, more enjoyable games — games that just feel better than what is offered in, say,Wii SportsResort....

Sometime before the end of the month,Poopocalypsewill release to the Xbox Live Marketplace and my long silence will end. In the meantime, the folks at Wolpertinger Games sent along this new trailer for the game they refer to as a “dual-stick poop’em up.” The jokes just write themselves, don’t they?
