Dragon’s Dogma shows off new screens, character classes

Of all Capcom’srecently announced titles, the game that’s caught my eye is undoubtedlyDragon’s Dogma. This open-world fantasy game looks like exactly my type of jam, and these new screens do little to change my mind. Accompanying the pictures are renders of the three “careers” that players can pursue — the Fighter, Mage and Strider. They’re exactly what you think they are, with Fighters specializing in close quarter combat, Mages dealing out magic and Striders fulfilling the swift, ranged role....

E310: Red Faction: Armageddon bringing focus to narrative

“Our first tendency forRed Faction: Guerrillawas ‘have at it, have fun destroying everything.’,” says Volition creative director Jacques Hennequet, speaking of last year’s title, which brought unprecedented destructibility to games with its update GeoMod technology. The upcomingRed Faction: Armageddon, which is set to hit shelves in March of next year, brings more focus to the series. “Now we’re refining this a little bit and we are integrating the destruction into the gameplay more,” he says....

E3: Ridge Racer Unbounded: Crash and create cities

I love theRidge Racerfranchise for its style and its fast, arcade-y racing action, but not much has been done with the core formula in awhile. A new game, Ridge Racer Unbounded, is out to add something new and unexpected to the mix: Destructible environments. I got a behind closed doors look atRidge Racer Unboundedthis week at E3. I was glad to see that Developer BugBear Entertainment (FlatOuttitles) has kept all the original style and approachability of the classic Namco racer, but seeing my first car-to-wall collision in a demo was a bit of a surprise....

Fatshark briefly talks jumping in Bionic Commando Rearmed

When it was unveiled that the ability to jump would be inBionic Commando Rearmed 2, some of you freaked out. Just a tad. Well, maybe considerably more than that. But now many of us havetriedjumping, and there’s been a more positive reaction on the whole. At least, that’s the impression I get. Even still, here’s a videoof developer Fatshark kind of sorta defending the new feature. The fact that you’re given a greater sense of momentum (which has always definedBC, to me) — and the levels are designed with jumps in mind — is more than enough....

Firestarting, cooking and shark escaping in Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked

With everything coming out this fall, I completely forgot about the new version ofLost in Bluefor Wii. It hit stores two weeks ago and, to remind us, Konami has released this new trailer showing few of the mini-game activities players will encounter. I’ve really enjoyed playing this series on the DS and was looking forward to this one, so I’ll probably wind up buying it. It’s a lot more cutesy than the handheld versions, though, which is a bit of a turn-off in what has traditionally been a fairly serious game....
