Walmart has confirmed that they’re testing out the used videogames business. The world’s largest retailer will work with a start-up named Game Trade to set up a game store within five of their retail stores. According to a statement, Walmart will accept trade-ins of games and other forms of entertainment for store credit or cash. Sounds like another game retailer, doesn’t it? The company told IndustryGamers: “Walmart is always looking for new ways to help give customers more convenience and savings, and we continually test concepts with new products and businesses in stores and online....

The Game Developers Conference is probably one of my favorite events of the year. There is a hum in the air as people are talking about gaming both on an individual title basis as well as in the broader context of our lives. I’m not expecting anything more out of A2M’s action shooter/slasherWETthan a schlocky, over-the-top good time. The commercial spot for the game, which hits stores tomorrow, lives up to that potential. The stylized Grindhouse look and feel, complete with grainy film effects pretty much set the tone for what I think A2M is trying to deliver — the videogame equivalent of the b-movies I used to rent in high school, based on their oversized boxes and the various “banned in (insert country here)” claims....

I always thought it would be really cool to be some sort of elemental being of destruction. I know, that makes me a bad person and all, but we aren’t talking reality here so I’m not going to apologize. Anyway, Konami announced a new title in development today calledZephyr: Rise of the Elementalswhich allows you to actually play as a huge tornado that grows larger as you destroy. Capcom sent over a massive amount ofResident Evil: The Darkside Chroniclesassets and one image in particular is leaving me puzzled. Who isthis mysterious woman? Darkside Chronicles is based onResident Evil 2andCode: Veronicaand I don’t remember seeing this woman in either of the games. As glad as I am that there will be new additions to these games, it does make me a little mad. I hate when an established story is retold....

I’ve been doing that geek heavy breathing thing ever since I first heard about Mistwalker’s new Wii RPG,The Last Story.I didn’t have much more than art and music to go on, but I felt good about what was to come. The Wii may finally be enjoying aprice cutin the US and Japan, but everybody knows that Nintendo has a hard-on for screwing Europe over and so no price cuts are coming to the PAL territories. Over the past week,you’ve likely seena number of alternate costumes for Batman inBatman: Arkham City. The outfits have ranged from The Animated Series to Earth One to Batman Beyond — holy Batmen, Batman! These are being offered as retailer-exclusive incentives for pre-orders, because that’s how the industry rolls these days. Worry not, completionists with money to burn: the character skins are going to eventually be available for download. “The offer that we’re making out with retailers for gamers is, this is an early access opportunity for you,” Rocksteady marketing manager Dax Ginn tells Eurogamer....

I knew that aDOOMcomic existed, but I had no idea how completelyout of controlit was. It’s packed full of one-liners and insane dialogue, comes off as what I can only describe as Duke Nukem fighting hell’s forces, and there’s even the obligatory Bruce Campbell quote. Oh, Doomguy. An intro trailer for the intriguing Wii gameEarth Seekerhas arrived, and I would say it’s worth checking out. It boasts a rather cute art style that hides the game’s grim post-apocalyptic scenario, and the character designs are quite a bit of fun. Earth Seekeris a game in which humanity’s home planet is destroyed. Civilization packs Earth’s greatest treasures on a giant spaceship and evacuates, but crash lands on a hostile alien planet....
