Street Fighter IV not hitting consoles until 2009?

After having spent adecent amount of time withStreet Fighter IVat CAPTIVATE last week, I must say:“Do want.”That said, the lack of arcades in the United States is going to make it difficult for me to find places to “put up my quarter.” So the home versions of the game (for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC) are the only way I’m going to get my fix. It’s too bad it doesn’t look like that will be happening this year....

Super Mario Galaxy Japanese trailer: like faeries dancing on your eyelids

The above clip is the official JapaneseSuper Mario Galaxytrailer, and it’s easily the best footage of the game we’ve seen so far. Sure, some of ushave played it, but none of them were inundated with the pixie language of the Nipponese during gameplay, and honestly that adds a certain whimsical feel to the proceedings. In fact, in David’s experience, the game was probably covered in the staccato Teutonic language of the Leipzig Games Conference, and I have to imagine that would be the gaming equivalent of eating a Popsicle covered in ants....

Take-Two doesn’t need anybody, declines all offers

After months of fruitless discussions with EA over a potential buyout, followed by a brief period of examining their other options, Take-Two Interactive has decided to remain an independent company. Despite the publisher’s stock dropping a brutal five percent after the EA acquisition deal fell through, CEO, Ben Feder, remains confident that the company can continue to be profitable on its own. Noting that Take-Two has a “strong cash position” and an “undrawn USD140 million credit facility,” Feder believes that they will be capable of producing strong returns for their investors....

Tekken anime is unintentionally funny

“Why are you so upset? Is it because your father threw you off a cliff?” “Tomorrow I’m killing my father.” “I know the rabbit wasn’t happy to get eaten.” These are some choice quotes from aTekkenanime YouTube video assembled by theswitcher. These and plenty more gems are within the over 10 minutes of video here. It’s funny that this drops in the same week thatTekken 6did. Tekken‘s backstory and characters are borderline insane anyway, but giving it the bad anime treatment takes it over the top....

TGS 08: Ninety Nine Nights 2 is coming and we have the concept art to prove it

It’s quite amazing how detached from the games industry you actually become when you’re at the Tokyo Game Show. Sure, we’re surrounded by the freshest upcoming games in the homeland of some of this industry’s most influential titles and designers, yet you’re too close to the action toseeanything. Thus it was when someone randomly said to me “Oh hey,Ninety Nine Nights 2was announced.” Yes, the poor man’sDynasty Warriorsis back, and we have two whole images that were sent to us in a 65meg file....

TGS: SumiOni is not Okami

No, it’s notOkami, but Vita platformerSumiOnidoes use on-screen black ink brush strokes as part of the gameplay. If you catch yourself saying that games that use brush strokes are just likeOkami, you’re probably one of those assholes that says that every restaurant that lets you pick your ingredients for a fat, hand-rolled burrito is Chipotle. I only got eyes-on with this arty sidescroller, but it looks pretty cool. You play as a sword-armed demon that uses brush strokes to create platforms, summon beasts and even cast spells....

The Associated Press’ top ten games of 2009

Following on fromTimemagazine’stop ten games of the year, the Associated Press has chimed in with alist of its own. Unlike the eclectic and rather strange top ten ofTime, it seems that AP has taken a walk on the safer side, picking a more predictable selection of titles while making sure to give console exclusives the fanboy-satisfying positions they need. Here is what AP rates as the top games of the past year:...

The best wedding gift ever

Some people get clothes. Some get antiques. Some get furniture … some get jewelry. David and Elly got an extremely funny and unique Xbox game created by their friends, just for them.David & Elly vs Donkey Kong. As much as I’d love to rattle off the entire history of the game on this page, due to space constraints, I’m forced to present you, instead, with thislink. It links back to GMAN-GAMES, and provides a detailed and entertaining story about how this game came to be....
