While this might not be the freshest news out of the box, we here at Destructoid had not brought this little tidbit of information to you, the readers, attention yet. While running down what we know aboutZelda Wiiso farZelda Informerlisted the fact that the game had been in development for going on five years. That’s beforeTwilight Princesslaunched and, if true, makes thisZeldahave the longest development time in the series sinceOcarina. We all know how well that turned out.
The information comes from anold copy ofGame Informer, which came out in January of 2007. In the pages the magazine mentioned that aZeldagame specifically for the Wii has been in development for a year already. That means if it comes out at the end of this year it will have had around five years of development time and if it lands in 2011 it will be nearing six. With a development cycle like this and all the talk about change in the series we might be seeing a brand new take onZeldacome this Christmas(please, please, please).
