If you’re one of the many people who claim that the Wii is only played for a day before gathering dust on a shelf, thenSega has your back. Unlike you, however, Sega actually means it as a roundabout compliment. Sort of.

When giving his thoughts on the Wii, Sega A&R’s head of content Darren Williams believes that: “… The Wii has become the most expensive board game on Earth – it’s the kind of thing that families will play at Christmas, and probably won’t play again throughout the remainder of the year. So things likeWii Sports,Wii Fitto a certain extent, that’s great.”

Williams also suggests that the Wii needs more titles, nodding to Sega’s ownHouse of the Dead: OverkillandMadWorldas two titles that the company is using to give thirtysomethings a reason to switch on their white box o’ waggle.

It’s nice to see Sega recognizing that not everyone with a Wii is after the kind of crap that Nintendo of America is pushing forward. Sega and Platinum Games are putting some interesting and compelling stuff on the Wii, and I hope they are rewarded in sales terms, because just likeOverkill‘s trailer says: It’s the hardcore you’ve been waiting for.
