Okay, we get it —Wii Fitis really, really popular. Exercise nuts, soccer moms, overweight folks, and even gamers have flipped out over Nintendo’s “maybe a game, maybe a fancy scale, maybe an exercise DVD.” So what will Nintendo do for an encore? ReleaseWii Fit Plus, of course!

Siliconera uneartheda Japanese trademark for both “Wii Fit Plus” and “WiiFitPlus,” presumably to protect the names in their plans to release new software or a follow-up bundle. We can take a leap of faith and make an assumption that the “Plus” indicates a new, updated title that would take advantage of the Wii MotionPlus controller add-on. Nintendo will be holdings itsE3 media briefing next Tuesday, and as uninterested as we are in someone doing Pilates in front of us at 9:30 in the morning, maybe we’ll hear more then.

Also interesting is Nintendo’s trademark of something called “Art Academy,” which Siliconera suggests could be “Mario Paintfor this generation.” Wishful thinking of course, but we’d definitely keep our eyes peeled for some art-related games in the future. Something has to fill the void where the Bob Ross Wii game once was, right?
