UTV Ignition has confirmed that its London studio is now closed for good, as the company ceases development of games and plans to only publish them. The studio was working onProject Kane, originally known as the ill-fated WarDevil.

“We can confirm that a small console team, which was working on pre-production of an unannounced title, was laid off,” Ignition told Gamasutra. “The PC team was unaffected.”

WarDevilhas had a long and unfortunate history. It’s beencanceled, uncanceled, switched studios, and altered status from PS3 exclusive to multiplatform title. It’s been kicking around since 2006 and I’m sure we all dread the state the poor thing will be in if it ever actually releases.

Ignition’s offices in London and Tokyo will remain open, although it seems likely that the studio working onEl Shaddaiwill be closed once the project officially wraps up.
