UFC president Dana White may be abandoning an earlier threat, but you can rest assured that there’s no love lost between him and EA.
As we saw last summer, Hell hath no fury like aDana White scorned: after claiming that Electronic Arts laughed him off when he approached them years ago with the idea of a mixed martial arts videogame, White took his business to THQ and hit it big withUFC Undisputed 2009. He then threatened to blacklist any UFC fighters who signed on to appear inEA Sports MMA, which left the publishing giant scrambling for the lesser-known stars of other MMA organizations.
White has softened a bit, if you can believe it. Speaking with Kotaku, he noted that he’s okay with the fact that “some people have crossed over,” though he continues to assert that EA is “the me-toos.” As far as he’s concerned, true UFC fans will stick withUndisputedand laugh off the pretender to the throne.
UFC Undisputed 2010will be out for PS3 and 360 onMay 25, 2010, whileEA Sports MMAis due to hit stores sometime this fall. Be sure to check out Rey’s“On Assignment” videofrom a recentUFC 2010press tour in New York. There’s talk of long hair!
