Barring any thrilling legal stuff, it appears as though Warner Brothers will own Midway Games. The bidding deadline for the oft-troubled publisher ended on Wednesday and apparently Warner was the only participant. Their bid of thirty-three million dollars was made in May — an epoch ago in Internet time.

As theLATimes blogreports, it’s uncertain as to what exactly Warner will own once the smoke clears. The educated guess is that Warner will get the rights to the vast majority of Midway’s franchises and the Chicago and Seattle studios. Apparently, the Newcastle and San Diego studios are too cool to be purchased.
