Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts are shutting down the massively multiplayer online portion ofStar Wars Galaxies, in addition to the trading card game, on July 01, 2025.
Yeah, MMO-lovingStar Warsfans haveThe Old Republicto look forward to, but it’s still sad to see along-running gameclose down for good. There’s something oddly eerie about online games all of a sudden ceasing to exist.
“During the last week thatSWGis available, we’re inviting the community to participate in a galaxy-ending event,”says the official site, which also offers details on fan appreciation offers and important dates.
“We’re going to end with a bang and we want the final chapter of the galaxy to be written in part by the dedicated and passionateSWGcommunity. Details will be announced at a later date.”
