SCEA’s John Koller hasadmitted somethingthat I think we all know by now — despite significant Japanese success, the PlayStation Portable’s library is in bad shape. Apparently though, things will be different next year. Sony promises … again with the promises.

“I think going into next year we’re going to see significant growth,” he stated, possibly almost believing it. “We’re counseling retail to be ready for it.

“We have a number of very strong franchise games on the docket that will be launching next year. We haven’t gone public with those, and many third-parties have not yet either because they’re concentrating on holiday, but we have a number of very strong titles coming.”

While the PSP has always been aimed at the adult gamer, Koller believes that in the next year, it will appeal more to young children. Not sure what I think about that, but what I do know is that Sony is getting very good at delivering things “next year,” or “in the near future.” The PSP is an awesome system and I want more games for it, but I shan’t get too excited for the system’s prospects until Sony delivers.
