Mommy’s Best Games? Who? Oh, you know. The developer behind such Xbox 360 indie games asWeapon of ChoiceandGrapple Buggy. The newest game to come from the mind of Nathan Fouts is calledShoot 1UP.

It’s got a few neat tricks, such as its lives system. Whenever you pick up a 1UP, another ship will become controllable. This can go on until you build up 30 ships, and with co-op, you’re able to have 60 total ships blasting away at once.

The core mechanic will likely remind you ofGalaga, but it’s got me thinking of a much more recent release too. Namely, Princess mode inHalf-Minute Hero. While there you started with a crowd of soldiers, here you have to earn your own personal army.

The other neat feature comes in the form of a “Ghost” power-up — just watch the trailer,here, and see. It’ll be easier that way.Shoot 1UPis looking at a January release. I’ll be happily waiting for it. Will you?
