Earlier in the month, ROM Hacker Xvirus demonstrated the potential for a fan translation patch for the sequel toRetro Game Challenge, long ago doomed never to escape Japan. While the patch was technically possible with Xvirus’ skills, he lacked a translator (a common issue currently plaguing two other in-progress patches from the hacker).

I’m happy to report that some plucky folks have answered the call to help Xvirus push this project along. The project now boasts a team of four translators, an editor and a graphic designer. They have set up awebsitewhere folks will be able to follow the project as it progresses, promising regular blog updates and visual media.

As I said before, I would love for this to happen and it’s wonderful to see a group of people rally behind this cause. Not to be the rain on the parade or anything but I’m not exactly celebrating yet either. There’s a long way to go and I’ve seen too many efforts of its kind fall apart to get my hopes up this early. I wish the team the best of luck.
