Well,Onimusha 3didn’t suck, and it’s not exactly cause and effect, but producer Shinji Mikami did link the two ina recent interview.Onimusha 3‘s jank camera helped inspire the over-the-shoulder camera ofResident Evil 4, it seems. Speaking on game inspiration, Mikami said that ifOnimusha 3would have been better, he might not have thought ofResident Evil 4!
Mikami: “ForBioHazard 4it came from playingOnimusha 3. If only the camera was behind the player, it would have been so much better. That stemmed the idea for creating the camera system–the [third-person shooter] style–inBioHazard 4.”
He continues: “Probably ifOnimusha 3had been better, I wouldn’t have thought ofBioHazard 4.”
Seeing as how I played the sh*t out of RE4, Mikami should mess up more often.
